orange upgrade problems

I've just upgraded my phone from the iphone 3gs to the Galaxy s2, when I signed up online I was given the deal of £26 p/month with a free handset, which I was very pleased with.
However, upon getting my first bill it was £45 as they had me on an iphone35 contact with just 500 inclusive texts. I phoned Orange Customer services and was told that I shouldn't actually have been offered a free handset for just £26 a month but they agreed to change my contract as this is what I had been offered, and also to deduct the extra charges from my next bill, this was on saturday.
I've just logged into my orange online account though and it is still showing me as being in the iphone 35contract, but now with unlimited texts and 600mins, which is not what I want. I was sold the Panther26 contract with unlimited texts and just 200mins as I never use my phone for calls and was told that I would be changed onto this contract.
Is this fair? I'm not very good at sorting things out with customer services, but I really need the cheaper contract which is why I chose this phone instead of the new iphone

The only thing you can do is talk to Orange. Do you have anything in writing of the offer you had, be that screen shots or email trails?

    Any proofs?
It's a common problem with over a phone upgrading that the result is not that your agreed to. It's well worth recording such important calls.
Now you can demand from Orange to either to cancel the upgrade or retrieve the record of the call and stick to what was agreed.

BTW, you could have got S2 with 300+300+500 on t-mobile for 24x£20.42 with further £140ish cashback if you claim it successfully.

Have a look on your on-line account tomorrow some times it takes awhile to update

if still the same then you are going to have to get back to Orange

Also was you dew an upgrade or is it an early one?
Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.

  • I was eligible for an upgrade as I was in the last couple of months of a 24month contract.
Will try give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. I get really anxious about making phone calls for some reason :o
This was an online upgrade, I really wish I had the foresight to take screenshots but alas I didn't realise I was going to have any problems with this new contract.
  • it probably jsut hasnt updated yet i think my husband one took awhile keep checking
