have all persons been suitably trained in the safe use of the grill & microwave?
also, training in the correct PPE to be worn would also be appropriate.
I'd be worried that the cotton wool that they're wrapping you up in may ignite from the red heat being emitted from the george foreman grill.

Just to make u aware this is happening in a prison, not trusted to use grill but can look after murderers etc pmsl
  • I dare say they're probably simply alluding to heat radiated by the grill.

What they probably meant to say was that they felt the location the grill was placed in did not appear to be suitable due to the heat given off? I'd imagine a toaster would give off more heat than one of those grills. Follow the steps above (oh and don' forget your personal protective gear to save you from the 'red heat':p)

When we had a George Foreman i dont recall the plates ever glowing red!

I guess its about the risk of contact burns....a bit harder to get from a microwave.

Prison kitchens, did a bit of work in one recently, all the utensils were locked away, even whisks. Youd expect it of meat cleavers and chefs knives wouldn't you, but whisks!

i love risk assessments. people with common sense can use them to help carry out tasks in a safer manner. whereas everyone else use them to put obstacles in their way and make a task more difficult.
  • Ok will go in and carry out my own risk assessment...lol

Don't forget to mention the unseen hazards - for example liquids heating up in microwaves that are then too hot to eat or drink; whereas with 'red heat' at least it can be seen and managed. ;)
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

!!!!!!! See Post 7. Its obviously been deemed a fire hazard in location A but its OK to use in location B. Its got stuff all to do the the operator burning themselves on it.

    Cheers
