I have to say i have used Fuels4U twice now and i have found their service to be fantastic. They have always emailed me with a time and date and stuck to this. The delivery driver has even helped to carry the coal to the back garden round the back of my terrace when they say kerbside and a lot cheaper than the local merchants. I would have no problem recomending them to anyone and will certainly use them again.

BTW if you use cheap-coal.co.uk this is the "same" company as fuels4u but at least £2 a bag cheaper

I agree. Have they contacted you to rectify the matter?

Nothing yet, am assuming they'll respond on Monday. Am hoping it'll be good, as I am out of pocket to the tune of £80 at the moment. Luckily my local supplier delivered a cubic meter of hardwood on Sat afternoon after I phoned him on Fri morning.
  • In the interest of fairness I have to post that the local distributor contacted me by phone on Tuesday(yesterday), and apologised profusely for the error, then offered either a full refund, or to refund the difference in the price of the item delivered to the item paid for. So in light of this I have to retract my previous posts, with the caveat that I've not received the refund yet. I'll post again when its repaid.

Sorry, forgot about this thread to be honest. Yes indeed, they paid the difference as per the telephone call. Not sure I'll be in a rush to use them again soon, but I won't rule them out, as they have corrected their error.
  • I read this thread late last Friday night after placing an order online with Fuels4U, then spent a weekend contemplating my folly.... Well it was trouble free and I'm really pleased with their quality and service.
I received email confirmation of the order. Someone rang me on Tuesday to say the delivery would be here on Thursday. On Thursday I had a call from the delivery driver to say he was on his way to my house (I had requested this. I work about 3 miles from home and can usually get there in 10 minutes) The driver then insisted on carting everything through to the shed and stacking it neatly.
As a bonus, I have become an instant fan of their Heat Logs, which I added to the order to make up the minimum. The hardwood logs need cutting in half to fit my little multi-fuel stove, but they are clean and dry - about 12% moisture - and much better value than any of my local suppliers.

All in all, I'm a happy customer. Sorry that others have had problems, but I will definitely use them again.

Glad it turned out well for you. I think some coal companies get flooded during the winter months and cannot cope with the backlog. They should just be honest many of them and all would be well. I use Cheap-Coals, best price in my area and very prompt. In fact, I couldn't afford to stay warm if their prices weren't what they are. I used to use Coals2U, but can no longer afford them.

Been using Fuels4u over a year now, switched from Coals2u as the price difference was huge. I tell them in the message box to a call a day before delivery, which is always received. Delivery guys are really helpful, and if I am ever out, they leave very neatly stacked in a corner.

A credit to one driver who delivered very late about 6pm in freezing rain/fog, he put the whole order in my garage, and when I offered a tip - he refused.

From placing my order to delivery is usually within 4 days. For me they are the cheapest around, especially for Anthracite.
