Bought a pre-owned PS3 game from gamestation yesterday @ £19.99. Went in today and the same game has been reduced to £9.98!
Should I be cheeky and take it back and switch for the £9.98? Not sure if they even take pre-owned games back. Any ideas?

Tell them it is faulty it has a glitch and freezes, then ask for your money back and go to another branch to buy the same game cheaper.
I have done this before .You live..You learn.:)0 -
"Tell them it is faulty it has a glitch and freezes, then ask for your money back and go to another branch to buy the same game cheaper.

And that's why these companies are struggling, personally I have more morals than to lie over a tenner, sadly it seems the OP agrees with you.
If you tell them it's faulty they'll likely bin the game so they've completely lost out because of your lie, not decent at all.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

Thats a bit much is it not? I have no intentions of taking it back and claiming that it is faulty. I am considering taking it back for a straightforward exchange and buy another game with the difference.
Get off your high horse0 -
Why shouldn't he take it back and try and get value for money. I don't condone lying but why not explain the situation and see what happens.0

A tenna obviously means more to some, I'd take it back no doubt about it.0

Having worked for Gamestation, in the event of a faulty pre-owned game, we offered an exchange for the same game, or if it was scratched we'd run it through the disk cleaner for free.0

Hi OP I worked at gamestation for 6.5 years so can advise! we offered a 10 day return policy so take it back for store credit explaining you wish to return it under the policy, then buy another copy with your credit and save the rest for something else.0

Actually those with the "i worked at gamestation" line have to consider the fact they're NOT the same company they were - they're now part of Game, who have very different ideology towards customer service than it was in Gamestation! Having worked for Game as well i can say they'll be significantly more nippy than they would have been back in the good old days, best hope is that they'll be of the type who'll be pleasant about it and not hardcore following the company line (which is to only return something if it's faulty or sealed, either manufacture seal or the store applied seal) - but don't be surprised if this is not forthcoming.
While i understand the frustration on the issue i'll point out two things, firstly, the chances are the game was included in the "january sale" which would just have started over the last few days, the staff may not have known about such an inclusion so wouldn't have been able to warn you of the imminent drop. Secondly, think of it like this, i know i'm nit picking here, but had the game increased in price - would you have offered to pay the increase - so why do you expect the terms of the contract to change after the conclusion of it, the goods were offered at a price, you agreed to purchase & the retailer agreed to sell, unless it's broken or unsuitable the transaction is essentially finished, no recourse.
I know you're willing to put the difference to further goods, but it might be difficult to convince them to allow it.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

I worked for gamestation until recently, so for a fair few years after they were bought by game.
We used to get the price changes either at the end of the day ready for changing the next day, or early on the day they needed changing so it's very likely they didn't know.
Whilst your last paragraph is correct in most shops, the 10 day return policy offers flexibility and allows people to exchange within 10 days so OP should have no problem returning his for credit. They would not give the difference back in cash if the game was not faulty, and if it were a replacement would be offered before a refund.0 -
Gamestation have a 10 day return policy on preowned games, so get it taken back :-) I did this just yesterday after buying a preowned Battlefield 3 on Monday for £27.99, only to find a sealed Limited Edition in Morrisons for £25.
Edit: As above, that's credit only, but they will put the remainder on a trade in card for you to use in future. I've usually got a balance of about £100 on my trade card as a result of my fairly regular trades!0
