I used to wear odd earrings all the time as a 'fashion statement' !! One stud and one dangly in similar colour or style, I only ever got positive comments.:T
I gave it up because current partner is very conventional  and doesn't see the point - bah!
I do sometimes long for the unconventional though...........maybe one day I will rebel.

If you can take the earring bit off, maybe you can thread it on a chain and use it as a pendant instead. I've done this a couple of times as I'm always losing them!

I do this too. You can buy really nice silver tubes with a ring hanging from it (if you see what I mean. You attach the earing to the ring bit and then thread the chain through the tube. Looks like a proper necklace that way ;)

how about attaching it to a nice ribbon/chain/rope etc., as a curtain tieback, or a smaller piece of the same to use as a decoration for candle, ornament etc., seen these for sale in the shops as 'candle jewellery'!
or what about just stick it directly into a candle as decoration? (seen this in The Pier for about £5 for 3 or something!

I had one of my nans ear rings converted to a pendant for my graduation. She lost one of them years ago and they were a pressie from my grandfather to her when my dad was born - I still remember playing with them when I was a kid and she would sit and read to me... It was quite a long dangly 18k long drop shape and it makes a great necklace.
On the other hand my mum had a air bit of jewellery from her mum who died when mum was young - but there were a lot of very sad memories attached to them and mum refused to wear any of them. There was a ring and some ear rings and a thin chain apparently. She had them melted down and had a ring made when she married my dad many years ago. As they divorced about 20 something years ago she decided I should have the ring and I still have it even if I rarely wear it :) So if it's gold (or even silver I guess) you could re-use them that way if you wanted :) Otherwise Ebay seems as good a choice as any :)
