I spent the time my DS had his first one on tenderhooks! They never seem old enough to drive!

Dad taught me to drive in JCB when I was 12 and I immediately drove over a fence he had spent all day putting up.

Nevertheless he persevered me as he was building our house he needed someone to move blocks and cement about the place so he could get on with the actual building.

When I turned 17 with one thing and another I never got round to learning but eventually dad took me out in his Range Rover (pride & joy) I did good but with one thing or another I never got out again for a while as I went to work on the farm and never had to time to book any proper lessons. However I was getting plenty practice in up and down the farm lanes so I was happy. Boss quickly worked out that I could actually drive on the road legally with my provisional as long as an L plate was stuck to the tractor and trailer. No L plates were ever stuck on and if I was ever pulled over the story was they fell off with a spare set in the cab to stick on if need be. Eventually the main guy that worked on the farm left and boss said "we can only get away with L plate malarky for so long so best you got through your test". Booked a few lessons with the local instructor and he made out I wasn't good and that I'd need a good few dozen lessons. After the 5th lesson I told my boss what the DI said about needing lots of lessons "nonsense, get him to drop you off you up here after your next lesson". Next lesson and he dropped me off at the farm and my boss walked up to his car and said "whats this about Liam needing lots of lessons? he can drive everything in this yard better than some people with 20, 30 years experience (as he points to 3 combine harvesters bigger than most people houses, 40' trailers, 30' livestock trailers, low loaders complete with tracked excavator, 3 big tractors that made his Ford Fiesta look like a Dinky toy next to them) so stop taking the laddie for a ride and get him through his test". My test was booked in double quick time and I passed with two minors for driving too slowly because I couldn't see because the rain was so heavy (makes you wonder).

Anyway, dad had got a new car as his Range Rover was becoming too much for him to maintain and he said I could have the RR if I passed my test. Dad was secretly hoping I would fail so he didn't have to give me his pride & joy but when I told him I'd passed he sat with his head in his hands for a good half hour.:rotfl:

The insurance crippled me in the end though. :(

I could rant the rest of this year and still not be finished! My mum phoned me one day in a rush and said about some deal on a site called MSE. It was for a cot for the imminent arrival of baby #2. I actually phoned and asked his permission to buy it (we never had any joint account so anything I bought was done so with my money). He then had a go at me after 'allowing' me to buy it saying we should have used the one he'd used for his kid - yes he has a habit of leaving women with young kids. The cotbed he had had been stored in the attic, in garages and god knows what had crawled all over it. It has since been ditched so he'll have to buy a new one for DS2 and I'm sure he won't get as good a deal :D

P.S. the grand sum of said cot ...................... under £20. I even paid for the mattress (£70) myself, the car seat for DS2 (£90) and all this out of my money while he'd been pocketing the child benefit for 2 years.

Oh and I've just had a :rotfl: moment. Took some Riverway sausages out of the freezer to defrost that were free after DTD (my first ever DTD I read about on here). The best before date was the last full day of our marriage! It make me chuckle :rotfl:

    Ok enough ex-bashing.

Oh, is the ex bashing finished? :(

I'd just looked out my baseball bat to go and pay one of mine a visit.:rotfl:
