Although it should never ever happen. It's quite common for mistreatment for turkeys as they're only used at xmas and few places produce year round as there's less demand. Turkeys get the short straw unfortunately, although the farmer's get paid in pennies from supermarkets so it's not a surprise that welfare isn't their top priority in some cases.
I'd recommend getting a turkey from a local farmer so you can check the birds out and how they're living before committing to purchase (although again they may put them in a 'nicer' pen for your visit) so popping by might work out better rather than ringing them up0 -

And to the OP, do you believe such things don't happen in other factory farms for all
the major supermarkets? even on those organic / free range fams thins such as this happen..
Have these animal lovers not got anything other than a film of one incident on one of
Bernard Matthews farms from 5 years ago to support their case?0 -
