What she said :D. It's not sustainable - and not the answer for them either, medium term. Tim to put you and Mr El first and hit the job boards.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thanks everyone, believe me I have been applying for anything that comes even close to my current job, I am however insisting in a few things this time ( which makes my search harder) I no longer want to work shifts or weekends, I want a decent pension, I want sick pay, and decent holidays, so in some ways I am asking the impossible ... But I really don't want to go from the frying pan into the fire if that makes sense

Mr el wasn't very happy when I told him about the latest issue, so I have decided when I go in tomorrow I will be putting my name down as do not contact unless and extreme emergency, shift cover is currently not an extreme emergency for me right now I need time with my family ... Fingers crossed that works ... But I know already she wants me to do the Saturday long day and that ain't happening, I'm doing her Friday night, she will tell me she can cover that but not the long day on the sat and I will say ... Well yes of course u can get Friday night covered ... I'm doing it ... If I sleep till 2pm on say I still get time with mr el ... Working till 10pm I won't have

I knew it was too good to be true ... Just had work on the phone ... Can I do a long day ? We wouldn't normally ask you ( eh what have I been doing for the last week? Covering the shifts you wouldn't normally ask?) so a long day would be 7.30am-10pm I straight away said no to that ... Could you do an early please, we are desperate, there are so many off on the sick and we know you've done more than your fair share but we are desperate

    I'm doing the early :(:(:(

Honestly I will be glad when next month I HAVE to say no

It's kinda like the whole T.I.A thing again ...

You need to practice saying NO. Get Mr El and Son of El's help. Get them to ask for really small things 'a cup of tea' 'passing a book', something reasonable...and say NO. Don't elaborate or explain yourself as that gives the other person something to work on. Practice responding with just s No.

Well I'm up and in work, had a moan at the nightshift co- worker about the situation, she is the same, she has been asked and pressurised into doing a few shifts as well, I think we're all just feeling a bit tired and overworked just now.

She did say she was surprised to see me and when I told her what I was putting in the book she said yep she is thinking of the same thing, I'm tempted to go back to having two phones again, this time though not giving anyone else my personal phone number, last time I had a different phone for work, I gave my own number to a couple of girls I'm close to, however they phoned me on my personal one when they couldn't get me on the work one, will need to change my phone number in the works mobile

I have said no for getting anymore other than my scheduled overtime for the rest of the month, so that's a start, will need to work in keeping it up now, and re-in forcing the no's that I have verbalised already that I allow myself to be talked into

But I'll be honest Butti you have hot the nail squarely in the head with the whole, explaining myself, I did say no sorry I can't do a long day I need to spend time doing x,y,and z she came back with the , can you do an early?

Another approach is the broken record and if you have a problem with lying go and see your Dr about this one so they can agree to it.

You decide how many hours overtime you are prepared to do. When they ring up and ask you to do more you say something like 'I have agreed with my Doctor that I can do up to ...x...hours overtime. I have already done those hours'. Leave it at that. If they press you ask 'Do you want me to have another TIA Repeat the first sentence over and over and over. Don't elaborate just repeat until they get it.

AND feel NO pity. They are not good at management just crisis management!!!

This technique is called the broken record and is very effective with persistent b*ggers !

well the boss phoned today and as i thought asked me to do the saturday long day, i did the "no" routine, no explanation just no sorry, it annoyed me that i said sorry, a) i'm not sorry and b) why on earth am i apologising for not working even more hours is beyond me

left work at 1pm got some diesel had a 99p Tilly tidy from there, it was great to have a Tilly tidy as it feels like so long since i have managed one, then went to college and handed over my I.L.A voucher to pay for my course, then down to the mil to get things organised for the aunty.

finally made it back home at 5.10pm in time for a guy to come and give us a quote for a boiler ( no we are not going to be buying one it was just a quote) only i came back to an answer machine message saying due to the adverse weather he wont be out tonight and wanted to re-arrange it for tomorrow, but i am at the speakers club tomorrow so it isnt suitable to me, so i had another oppertunity to say "no" today :)

my adpoints has only credited me with 33points so far this week, it seems that it starts off good but drops off as the time goes on.

i am thinking of running again tonight but noticed the other day when i went for a walk up the street and had a very short run that my shin splints were hurting again, so i dont know whether to run or to rest them, i hope i havn't started back too early but i may need to face the fact i have :(

i've also been looking at new types of diets, currently i am doing a low carb/carb cycling/ IF type of diet but i am thinking of doing a nutritional ketogenic/ low carb/ IF diet

it am thinking of doing it for the health benefits more than the weight loss, yes the weight loss is important to me but i am going to be honest i need the health benefits that come with altering my food consumption
