Eat some dog food and see if you'll be sick? If so it must be bad for your dog?
I'd spew eating raw, I'd spew eating tinned, I'd spew eating dry - Your point is?
ETA - I'm not a dog, and neither are you, so you cannot say your digestive responses will be the same as a canines... How many millions of years ago did we genetically split again? Oh yeah - thousands, probably millions, and then some!
Sorry - I didn't mean to be patronising - unfortunately I prob am being just so by apologising - sorry!I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I hope your dog is feeling better today? I would definately avoid giving him the hide chews. I know dog's reallly like them but I have noticed over the years that quite a few dogs will swallow lumps of them, that upset their stomachs and it often come back up!!"I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again."

I'm sure you're right mutley. Those Bonio ones seem to come to pieces at the drop of a hat. Shame he loves them so much. I've read a lot about rawhide since he got poorly again and am steering clear of it now.
Thanks,

I would cut out rawhide treats altogether, it's notorious for causing digestive issues. Often swallowed in too large pieces so it's a choking hazard, poorly digested so tummy upsets, and cheaper products can be bleached which is no good when dogs are eating it! If you want some tough chews for him the check out the Zooplus website, they do tons of natural treats that are safer. Pizzle is a firm favourite here, cows ears are tougher than they look (and lower in fat than pigs ears so better for a greedy Lab's waist!) and a whole range of other natural treats are on there - I'm holding out for their Christmas sale to order my next lot, I buy it all in bulk and it works out cheaper than my local petshop would pay the wholesalers themselves, let alone what I'd have to pay for it after their markup!
I would also cut out the human food like dry toast and biscuits when he's sick. May work for us but not the best for a dog. Better to stick to an easier digested food - egg (make it with a splash of water rather than milk, incase your dog is lactose intolerant, like many are), chicken, fish - try to stick to something he's had before so you know it doesn't upset his tum.0 -
Thanks for th advice and recommendation krlyr. I will check out that zooplus site.
Just an update on the pup as it is always annoying when people don't come back to a thread and let you know how it has gone on. Selfish gits. Anyhoo.
He hasn't been sick for more than two weeks now. He's on wet food and mixer and occasionally the dry food again but we soak it well now for at least an hour before he eats.
We've stopped giving him rawhide as well.
All good so far.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
