This happened in my car recently too! I am a lazy cow, so my advice mightn't be suitable for you. My method was to faff about "blotting" the affected area with white vinegar on a cloth. In the end I got fed up and poured a bottle of vinegar over the wet area. I figured that the smell was coming from deep within the upholstery rather than from the surface therefore rubbing the top would be a fruitless exercise. Anyway, the smell has gone though there is a funny whitish tide mark around where the vinegar soaked in. Brutal and lazy but it worked!0

Zoflora disinfectant. It gets rid of every smell I've ever had from stinky, maggoty dustbins in a hot summer (yes we did have one, once!) to cat litter trays after a very upset tummy (sorry if tmi) to a festering drain caused by a dead rat. You may get fed up with the smell though, it lingers long after the memory of the foul one has died!
Btw I also love the smell of TCP. The real thing, that is0 -
I have saturated the seat, carpet and fabric on the door with enzyme solution - amazingly the smell disappearred within a few minutes! What great stuff - a must-have for all pet owners
As soon as its dried off, I will try saturating the same areas with strong Zoflora solutiom to freshen it up . . . . although I wonder why my OH picked the "Sweet Pea" fragrance! :rotfl:

put some warm water into a a bucket or something similar, not too much, use vanish gold oxi action, i assumed that it would have allot of enzymes in it, bit of vinegar and washing up liquid. leave for six hours, wash off with water. be sure to consider not rubbing it into the underlay.0

I have tried carpet shampoo specially for this purpose - to no avail, vinegar & lemon in water, neat vinegar, and the pong is still there. Taking up the carpet is the very last resort as not only is it very firmly stuck down, but emptying the room - which is my office - would be a nightmare. All suggestions gratefully received!
Use hydrogen peroxide 5% diluted in water (bought from chemists). I think it's one part HP then five parts water. Scrub and leave to dry.
Go over that with neat white vinegar and leave to dry.
Lastly, water and washing up liquid, scrub and leave and you should be odour free.

Hi, can anyone please help
My new cat peed on the carpet in my lounge. I've scrubbed and scrubbed and the smell won't go away... I'm yet to try bicarbonate of soda so will try that today.
The next problem is that whilst scrubbing I have soaked the floorboards which I discovered today when I peeled the underlay and carpet back.
Any ideas how to dry the floorboards? I'm at my wits end I really am
Thanks in advance xx0 -
Hi I am a cleaner, I once cleaned a house that was an end of tenancy property.
The tenant told me she had 4 cats and they had sprayed a lot around the house, and in order to get her bond back she wanted me to try and do what I could to get rid of the smell.
she had tried bleaching the kitchen but the cats still sprayed, bleach doesn't work at getting rid of the smell it only masks it.
I discovered it was mainly on the kitchen tiles and the dining room carpet.
I filled my mop bucket up only a quarter of the way and piured in one full bottle of distilled vinegar, mopped twice and left to dry. once id done that I then used a couple of caps of zaflora disinfectant in the same amount of clean water in the mop bucket, yet again ,mopped twice and it worked a treat!! the zaflora is also an odour eliminator as well as the vinegar.
on carpet I sprayed some vinegar over the carpet and aloud to dry and re sprayed, then after that I used neutrodol carpet freshner, yet again its an odour eliminator. I let it sit for the 3-4 hrs that I was their cleaning and then vac'd up.
sorry ive waffled but its a cheap way to get rid of the smell, bicarb may work as it is also an odour eliminator.
