HSBC: 6% (fixed) on Current Accounts for new **and existing** customers

Just been into my local HSBC branch to complete the 'switch form' which was required even though i have a current account with them already. I have to switch at least 2 SO's or DD's from another bank account over to existing HSBC and maintain the £500 deposit in per month.
so its
Halifax reward account = £5 pm (£1000 deposit required)
Halifax Clarity Card = £5pm ( £300 spend required)
CO OP = £200 on 4th month ( new account offer )
HSBC = £10pm ( 6% AER on £2500 for 12 m )
Santander = £8pm (5% AER on £2500 for 12 m )
provided I stick to the requirements that's £536 over the year'
I also use my Amex cash back & Barclaycard World cash back (old egg money)
once I've spent £300 on my Halifax Clarity Card, I also combine all of the above with both quidco and Top cash back when ever possible.
Anyone know of any other ways/offers to receive cash back via accounts or cards etc
Thanks if you can advise0 -
I don't know how much you have, but did you know you can have 2 of these?hillendale wrote: »Santander = £8pm (5% AER on £2500 for 12 m )
& also that first direct is doing 8% if you can save from £25-£300 for 12 months http://www2.firstdirect.com/1/2/savings/regular-saver-account;jsessionid=0000Y8d7CBfaNQV6iDbPZtRnGNU:11jk49v2v? Which bagged me £125 for the full amount.
You probably did as you seem pretty clued up, but i thought i'd throw it out there.
Also, if you have an iPhone (perhaps even Android?) you can get the Quidco app & check in at places. Ok it's small change - 10p here, 20p there, 25p elsewhere, but it all goes towards paying your £5 yearly subscription, which is why i've now moved to topcashback.0 -
First Direct is part of the HSBC group, so it's not HSBC itself, and so you qualify.I'm with First Direct as one of my banks. Do i now no longer qualify as it's part of the HSBC group, or do i still qualify as it's not HSBC?
The only thing you don't qualify for is the special offer interest rate of 2.00% on a savings account with HSBC (unless you can transfer from an account which is not part of the HSBC group), but I'm sure you can find better deals elsewhere without too much trouble.0 -
I quoted your Santander line, so i was referring to your Santander account.2 of which? current accounts with Santander, HSBC or First Direct?
Do you get the higher interest on both of two?
And unless i've missed the part in the T&Cs saying they wont pay the interest on both, then yes, they will pay it.0 -

HI
Thanks for your reply
I like the look of the FD saving and will look at opening an account and use the £300 a month option
I was going do the FD switch for the current account £100 cash back deal but because I'd held an account with them about 13 yrs ago I understand i wouldn't receive the cash back
I take it you have a FD current account as well as the FD 8% saving account
You mention ' 2 accounts with santander paying 5%' didn't realise they allowed this ?? how did you manage it ?
In regards to checkin cash back yes i use this when possible via my quidco/topcashback iphone app.0 -

The advert says at least 2SOs AND/OR 2DD.
Did they confirm that 2SO is enough ? or It shall also contain DD ?

Both iphone and android have the quidco app now and the check in amount is counted outside of the £5 yearly subscription. ie as long as you have £1.01 accumulated from check-in, you get the money BACS to your account.
Been using it since August and have £5.55 over 5 months by myself. more than £10 from both me and my wife. Free money since we go into town anyway pretty much every week.0 -

Hi
Lady in branch told me either 2 SO's or 2 DD's would be required or you can switch more if you needed. It was a very simple in branch form I had to complete just asked about other account details and also HSBC as I am an existing customer.
I still double check regards the number of SO's required for the switch at your local HSBC to be on the safe side. Don't think the switch can be done online.
If you don't have enough SO's or DD's would it be possible for you to add some to your old/existing account before you switch ?
Hope this helps0
