Due to the software problems that Vodafone say there is for the K700i, they are currently offering to swop it for a Nokia 6230.
I agreed to swop as I wanted a phone to work. They said they would ship it out, and after a few phone calls and several reminders for them to do it, it eventually arrived. Only it was just the handset and a battery.
It was refurbished and didn't come with anything... not even a charger.
I rang and ranted... put on hold.... spoke to several people...
They tried to fob me off by saying that because I sent a used phone back (it was new when I got it from them....) that of course I would be getting a used phone in return.
I compared this to buying a pair of shoes, where they are faulty, so you take them back, but instead of exchanging them for a new pair, they give you a pair that are ok, but have been worn.....
Initially they were having none of it, but I continued to rant and rave, and spoke to several people... getting put on hold... having to give details each time....
EVENTUALLY ! I got through to them... (think the words breach of contract and Trading standards helped...)
I have now received a brand new 6230..... so PLEASE do not be fobbed off by Vodafone... it's not our fault there was a problem with the K700i in the first place, so why should we have to suffer.
Be persistent ! It took a lot of time and angry phone calls, but I got there in the end !
Good luck to all those who are in the same position as I was xxxxxxx

what is the problem with the k700i?
OH has one and hasnt had any trouble with it yet.0 -
The problems with K700i and Vodafone are software problems which they have admitted to.
Text messages are not being received for days, and you cannot load real tones on to the phone...
Apart from that the K700i is fine.....
If it doesn't bother you then there's no point in going through the hassle of changing it...
Just thought it would be good to warn people if they are experiencing problems and trying to get it changed for the 6230** Getting back in the swing of saving again.... **

Hi amature saver and all others,
Im not sure if any of you guys remember my thread about my troubles with Voda and my Sony Ericsson K700i. Well I personally did not accept the offer to swap my phone for the nokia (which is actually inferior and not of the same value) and so they offered to send the phone off for a software upgrade, and after recieving it back on Fri - thus far, no problems PLUS IT NOW PLAYS MP3 ringtones!
Im glad I stuck to my guns on this one - I wish you had been offered the same amature moneysaver. The K700i is actually a really capable phone and guess what I also found out - VODA are to blame for the problems - NOT the phone! apparently it is a network problem which has also happened to some other handsets too (although I dont have the model names).
For info on how to make MP3 that work on the K700i (they need a little Pc app) search this thread for DRM packager!
For anyone not experiencing problems on Voda' but want to get MP3 ringtones working you have the right to a free software update - just tell them your fears and demand it.
