my credit agreements doesn't appear on Equifax

Hi there,

I just got access to my Equifax credit report, which doesn't show any of the credit agreements I've got (a Barclays agreed overdraft, a Capital One credit card and a Vodafone contract with direct debit). I had 3 footprints of search from Barclaycard (I applied 3 times before I knew that it was better to check my credit report with equifax first), and I think I've been always declined because those credit agreements don't appear in my credit report. Is there anything I can do to ask them to add those agreements, in order to apply for a Barclaycard in the future? (not applying now)

Equifax thinks I've got no credit at all, this is not good...

Thanks

It can sometimes take up to two or three months for new credit information to be updated with a CRA. If these accounts are relatively new, it might be that the details have not been sent to Equifax yet.

If your accounts are say, more than 4 months old then you have a problem because this is very unusual. If this is the case the first step would be to advise the lender that the account does appear on Equifax and if they can perhaps tell you why. You'll need to call the credit team (or ask to be transferred to the credit team) in order to have any chance of getting an answer - customer services are likely to have no idea what you talking about or will just say 'wait'.

Calling Equifax won't do any good, they are only the receiver of information and will not do any investigation work on accounts which details they do not have. I.e. they will only liaise with lenders for disputes on existing information they hold.

    Thanks for your answer, lee.

My agreements are quite old (every agreement is more than 4 months old). Does that mean that I have to contact Barclays, Vodafone and Capital One credit team asking why my agreements with them don't appear in Equifax credit report?

It's very strange I know... I only see the searches, and not my credit agreements. This is obviously bad as it seems I haven't got a credit history. And it's strange as well that Experian has everything up to date.

It may be worth noting that I have also NO linked addresses (while I've got plenty of them on Experian)...

It could be an address issue as the accounts on the CRAs are linked to the address that you give, hence if you live at a different address to the one you gave Equifax they may not show. If this is a possible reason?

If not, then yes I would contact the lenders and ask if they have submitted your account information to all 3 CRAs (especially Equifax as this seems to be your issue) in recent months as you have seen your credit report and have no information.

If they reply yes, then it may be an issue with your details given to Equifax for example an address issue - which you would then need to sort out with Equifax.

But yes, your first contact point are the lenders, assuming the address these accounts are held with is the same as the one you gave Equifax.

I moved 1 month ago to my current address, and I've registered to the electoral roll (Experian has got this right, Equifax still shows no record on the elecotal roll). I also changed all the addresses on these accounts, which are currently reflected in my Experian credit report (not Equifax - again).

One possible issue is that the former address I was living in is registered in a different way from the post office (11-12 as house number, while I always used only 11, even if I've got Capital One to use the 11-12), but with linked address this shouldn't be an issue (in Experian credit report this is right, in fact).

Shall I try to contact Equifax first to see if they got any issues with my current adrress? Or if it's just a matter of time to being updated? It's strange however.

This is an address issue, so the first step now is Equifax, give them your correct and full (in their preferred format) current address and previous address (more importantly double check these are correct)

It will take a while to show up on Equifax, but after this has been processed your accounts should be linked up and will show on your report.

Not sure if you can do it over the telephone but why not have a bash. Bit silly sending a letter at this time of year.

Yeah, it is also showing that I've not been on the Electoral Roll for the last 2 addresses (for 1 is true, but the last one I lived in 9 months was well in the electoral roll - as I've got my Capital One card and my Vodafone contract account with that address - and Experian report shows it). I contacted them via their customer service support, hope this could help as I want to apply for a more convenient credit card in the future (crap Capital One interest rate), but with such a credit report from Experian I could barely do.

    Thanks!
