Dear All,
I need some experts help. I have a bolier 15 years old with heat exhanger/burner newly replaced by british gas.
My boiler is working fine without any issue for last 2 years.I have now taken eon home care . We noticed recently a water leaking from boiler excess pipe fitted outside the wall.
We called EON home care engineer and he suggested to replace a pipe inside the boiler as due to expansion and contraction the pipe got broken and therefore water leaking from excess pipe. Apart from this boiler is perfectly working with out any issue.
In Decmber 7th the engineer came and replaced the pipe part , From December 8th onwards my Gas burner ignistion keeps going off for every 10 mins. We have called the EON engineer and they said everything fine. But we still have the same issue of ignition keeps off every 10 mins.
Now EON is saying there is a sludge in the system and I need Power flush.
I do not understand this, if we have a sludge in the system why we do not have this problem before December 7th , Before the part replace. I thought the issue happening due to part replace , but they deny to agree and they suggesting power flush . They saying if I did not do Power flush I am not covered for any part damage in future.
I am confused and do not understand this I thought of replacing boiler in 1 or 2 years and I want to do power flush that time..
Can some one help me will power flush will resolve ignition keep off every 10 mins problem? If not what could be the problem
Many Thanks in advance for your help

I'm not a boiler engineer but the description you have supplied is a bit vague.
What kind of boiler is it?
What pipe / part did they actually replace?
Was the boiler leaking via the overflow from the boiler itself or an expansion tank?
When it cuts out does it go into a lockout state?
Does it require manual cycling to get it to unlock or does it re-ignite of its own accord after a set period of time?0 -
Many Thanks
What kind of boiler is it?
- Worcester Combi boiler floor fitted
What pipe / part did they actually replace?
- This is what I am also not sure , but it sounds like they replaced a pipe in the expansion tank in the boiler
Was the boiler leaking via the overflow from the boiler itself or an expansion tank?
-Boiler leaking from overflow pipe outside the wall next to co2 emission exauster .
When it cuts out does it go into a lockout state?
-- It goes into lock out state and required manual cycling to get it to unlock .
Does it require manual cycling to get it to unlock or does it re-ignite of its own accord after a set period of time?
It goes into lock out state and required manual cycling to get it to unlock . Again after 10 mins it will go into lockout state and requires manual re-ignite and cycle repeats ...0 -
Could be a number of things on that basis.
Does it have an error code or just a lockout light?
Do the light(s) stay on or do they flash in a particular order / sequence? (speed of the flashes is probably important too - if it does that)0 -
Thanks ,
The light goes off , it does not throw any error . It ignition light completly goes off and we will manually re-ignite using ignition push button switch.
Thanks for your help

Hmm, on that basis i'm not sure i can help any further.
If it's going into a lockout state it should give some indication / error light / code.
It's going to need someone to do some proper diagnostics.
That really needs someone in front of the boiler with an electrical tester.
It could easily be any of:-
pcb,
solenoid/coil breaking down on the gas flow regulator,
flame sensor,
temperature overheat sensor,
air pressure switch.
The power flush (on the face of it) doesn't sound like it will fix
anything to me but as i'm not an expert.
Hopefully you'll get a plumber on here who might know more.0 -
Many Thanks for your help0

I'd get an independent to check, power flushing is massively pushed by the big firms and not normally needed.0
