Sainsburys Value Bio powder?

I think the value brand ones are exactly the same as their more expensive boxes but just have no perfume in and less optical brighteners, which in 9/10 cases are the main causes of the residual irritation. If you use a seperate fabric conditioner it is a waste of time having perfumed wash powder too.
I have 3 children with eczema, and myself and 2 children with psoriasis .. all of which are irritated by non-value wash powders so I have used tesco/asda/sainsburys value brand wash powder for years with fabric conditioner (we can use 2 brands of this!) and it is great... clean clothes and no itching!!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

(and yet Lidl's dishwasher powder is fantastic value.)
I now stick to persil and Arial. Someone posted on here a year or so ago who used to work in a consumer testing lab saying that Arial is best for stains and Paersil is best for whites. So I use both and stock up when they're cheap
i use lidls non bio and i think that that is fantastic!!!
i use the value powder in the summer months(say march-sept when washing can be dried outdoors and its fabulous but i find i dont like it when washing has to be dried indoors as theres not much smell and i find by the time clothes are dry then they smell 'off!'0 -

I use lidls maxitrat tablets. if you use 1 instead of the recomended 2, the clothes do not come out stiff but are as clean as many major brands, for half the amount of powder that is cheaper to start off with!Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Sorry to bring this thread back up again, I've just been trying out the Sainsburys Basics powder (always thought I was sensitive to non-bio as I came up in rashes when younger) but it doesn't seem to affect me anymore which is great. Now I see the comments about soda crystals and white vinegar...
What job does the soda crystals have?
And when you say 50/50, do you mean like if its 1 cup of normal powder, then use 1/2 cup of powder and 1/2 cup of soda crystals?
How much vinegar should be used?0 -
Oh and the vinegar, is it white wine vinegar? Or I can see there's distilled vinegar.0

Hi helping_hubby - yes, if you used 1 x measure of washing powder before, you can now use half cup powder and half cup soda crystals. I got a large bacg of soda crystals from Tesco online last month and it seems great and works well with the bio. All I know it is cleans well, not sure what the soda crystals actually *do*...
Also I thought it was just white vinegar, but maybe it has to be distilled white vinegar??MFW #185

I use the Sainsbury's cheapo powder and it seems to work fine, and I only use half the recommended amount anyway. It doesn't smell of anything though, but then I think we've been conditioned to believe clean washing must smell of 'april freshness' or 'ocean breezes' or some nonsense, when of course clean things should smell of nothing.'Never keep up with Joneses. Well according to http://www.vinegartips.com/ It seems to be white distilled vinegar.0
