Anyone got Costco membership?

Thinking of getting 1 just wondered if they are worth the £20?
I did have a Makro card which was free but that shut locally but ive noticed a Costco in my local city. Most stuff at Makro was not a lot different to the supermarkets but you did get the odd ridiculous bargain + they tended to have things that had sold out elsewhere.

  • :jI LOVE costco! its a great place. I go in off my sisters and mums membership but they find it well worth the fee.

Im not sure what the rules are at your local one but at ours to join you need business documentation, I do know that some will just let anyone join and allow non members to go in, so be sure to take the documentation with you.

Have you got a friend who has a membership? You can take 3 people in per member card so may be worth going in with them for a look around first, it wouldnt be worth them lending you their card as they have member photos on.

I actually prefer Costco to Makro I find the items better quality and usually cheaper!
  • I should be ok, some invoices and tax papers should do it.
I dont know anyone with membership, I might just give it a go, worst case its only £20 and ive got nearly all my shopping to do still so i'm sure I can save £20 in some way.

We find it well worth the money.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

They sell clothes and dvds and electrical items amongst other things and if you keep a careful eye out you can pick up some real good bargains, Last time I went I picked up Zelda Ocarina of Time for the 3DS for £15 inc VAT when I went to Morrisons it was £32.99

With it being christmas they have a lot of gifts avaliable in store.

Also I have a big family of 8, so we do a lot of bulk shopping we get birthday cakes from there and they are to die for. much better than standard shop bought ones and they are extremely reasonably priced, they will even decorate it for you.
  • Thanks for that, well worth the membership fee by the sounds of it. :)

If you ask the manager they may probably let you have a look around before getting membership.
    .
  • Whilst Makro is trade only, Costo isn't and they have quite a long list of professions that are allowed to join as an individual member.

If you are in any medical profession, airline, gov't, banking, and many professional positions then you will qualify for membership. (£30 per year and a free 2nd card for your spouse).

I find them cheaper than Makro for many items and being open to non trade people, lots of items that they sell are available in single lots rather than multipacks.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Our Costco let you go in for a preview visit. You aren't allowed to buy anything, but can go and check out prices and what they sell in order to see if it's worth you signing up for a card or not. I took a recent business invoice as proof of sole trader and had a good look round.

Decided it wasn't for me but glad I didn't waste £20 finding out.
Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
  • Thanks people, i'll call in and have a look.
  • Lots of threads asking the same thing (did you do a search?) and a big thread listing offers etc.

Not sure why you've put it on the ebay section.............??
