CPW lifeline insurance??

I took out an o2 contract through e2save (Carphonewarehouse) and was given 3 months free lifeline insurance which I continued to pay at £5.99 a month.
This weekend the screen completely broke on my phone so I took it to my local Carphonewarehouse store who took it in for repair and said it will take up to 28 days. No temporary phone was offered to me and I rang up the carphonewarehouse insurance line and they said they do not give temporary phones on my type of insurance. So basically I have to pay £5.99 a month, plus i have to pay an extra £30 on top of the monthly price for the repair, and I wont have my phone for a whole month and will still have to pay my line rental on top of all that.
This is a bit rubbish isnt it??? And I desperately need to use my phone for incoming work calls. Has any one else been in this situation?
I don't want to have to pay for a pay as you go mobile just to use it for a month and I don't have any other phones.
Any help please!

You have to pay an excess if you claim on the insurance in the first three months, however, if it is a manufacturing fault then phone should be repaired/replaced under warranty at no cost to you.
Some shops offer a loan handset but they don't have to.
CPW own insurance is crap, ditch it and get your own if you need it.
