Carphone Warehouse/ T mobile account declined issue

I ordered a mobile from Carphone Warehouse yesterday, and got an email today from them saying:

"Unfortunately we haven't been able to process your order as the network you applied for has declined your request for a mobile phone account.

Please note that this decision was made by the network and not by The Carphone Warehouse."

Now as far as I am aware I have an unblemished credit history and have never had any problem like this before. Should I start worrying and investigating what is on my credit history, or does this sort of thing happen periodically for retailer reasons? Is it likely to be true that T mobile declined the contract, or has anyone ever heard of Carphone Warehouse doing this for their own reasons?

Any advice

i got turned down by virgin, despite my credit rating being good enough for barclays give me a pre-approved mortgage

On further investigation i was told that mobile networks are the most stringent when it comes to credit checks, and amoungst the hardest to pass. So at that time I could buy a house costing goodness knows what, but I couldn't set up auto topup on a pay as you go phone!
