Virgin Bundle - can I drop Virgin TV and keep broadband and phone

We currently have a Virgin Media bundle of 10mb cable broadband (fastest currently available in our area, sigh), XL tv service and virgin phone. We are thinking of dropping the tv and going for Freeview instead because there is so little tv we regularly watch and the overall V+ package is costing us around £66 per month.
We should like to stick with the Virgin cable broadband though, because it works well (and we had a bad experience with BT ADSL when we tried it a few years back. BT infinity is not available locally).
Does anyone know can we drop the Virgin tv and keep the broadband and phone?

Yes, when we rang up to try and get a better deal on our bundle, one of their suggestions was to drop to broadband and phone line only.
My advise would be to ring up and say you want to cancel and see what they offer you. We didn't save much but got extras thrown in such as a tivo box. You do need to be persistent though and keep saying you want to leave before they will offer you the best deal.

If you do accept any new deal you may be tied to a contract of 12 or 18 months. Do ask.Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

You get the minimum TV package free with the phone line anyway ... mention this when you phone since totally cancelling something may actually mean paying more since you might miss out on any 'bundle' discount!0

Are you sure? Most areas can get 100Mbps now and I didn't think there were any which couldn't get 50Mbps.10mb cable broadband (fastest currently available in our area, sigh)
Dropping TV may (or may not) impact discounts but it shouldn't extend your phone or BB contract as VM treat each service separately.0 -
You can, the lowest they would quote me for this was £22 pm, tied in for 12 months. It therefore made sense not to drop the TV in the end, my whole bundle costs c£28 pm now.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

...our slow speed is something to do with waiting for the local exchange to be upgraded. it's not that we are in a remote location, but we got an upgraded exchange locally just before the internet went big time and now our neighbourhood is at the end of the queue for another upgrade. Supposed to be happening next year.0

Whoever told you that is talking out of his bum hole...VM don't have local exchanges as such,the Fibre Optic cable runs from a Headend/Hubsite to a couple of boxes near your home,known as the Mux (phone) & DA (Distribution Amp for TV/BBand) & from there it's copper to the street cabinets then the home.
The Mux/DA's are arranged in rings of eight & the may be around 500 of them in an average city.
It's more likely that the cabinet you are connected is oversubscribed & needs additional tap banks & another Magnavox booster.0 -

Do you know if VM still have any analogue only TV services? If so that wouldn't support BB which would then have to be ADSL based.0 -

It's something to do with calibration & signal strength.
Londonderry can't have digital cable tv,only analogue tv but they can have cable broadband & the's areas in the UK that are the same,0
