unlocked nokia 3510i still shows orange name
Hi Moneysavers
I have an unlocked Nokia 3510i (originally orange) now vodaphone sim. Can anyone tell me why when the phone is switched on I still get the orange logo before it switches to vodafone?
How can I stop it doing that or change it?

its because it has the orange branded s/w on the phone.
you will need to get it reflashed with generic s/w so it would be like a sim free phone with no branding.
pm me if you want more details0 -
let us all in on the secret then....my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!0

Just a thought - can you not just turn the Welcome Note ON, under Phone Settings and type in your own note? Would this not display the welcome note instead of the usual Orange logo?0

You can get these phones debranded commercially (expect to pay around £15 - £20).
Do an internet search for "debrand 3510i"0 -

there was no secret - it was just to give contacts of people who could do the reflashing.
it needs special eqipment like this to do it:

i normally charge £9 inc sp del return when i do them, but a shop would charge £15+ as smartasss says.
it is not on the welcome note - it is in the actual phone s/w, it doesnt affect the running of this phone after unlocking, but on some phones it can do - such as voda branding on the k700i which stops you using other n/work settings unless debranded (reflashed) even after unlocking.0 -
I had the same when i unlocked my Nokai 3220. I keep getting the orange logo on start up. So is there an easy tip to remove this?0

Hi Atpug
At the momen from what I can make out from the thread, it looks like you have to pay. Seems a bit steep when the phone is unlocked and it is just the 'orange' name that you want to remove.
I take it you still have not been able to remove it either? All that glisters is not gold, except moneysavingexpert.com0 -
as i said - it can only be remove by changing the s/w on the phone (reflashing) by specialised equipment.
most phones will still work fine after unlocking with the n/work branding still on, but a lot of traders like to remove it as it can increase the resale value of the phone a bit0
