W810i - Best Deal?
Options
Hi, I am looking for a new mobile and love the look of the W810i. I've been on O2 PAYG for years and I really can't decide whether to go contract. One of the reasons stopping me getting a contract W810i is that I won't be able to keep my existing O2 PAYG number. I also don't really use much credit so contracts like £35 p/m are just not worth it. My current balance is £0.25, and my last £10 top-up was in November!
I'm also a bit dubious about the redemption deals. I really don't want to have to pay out £35 p/m and then claim to get it back again. The cheapest W810i on PAYG is at Phones4u for £149.99 but I just can't decide whether to get it or go contract and maybe get a better deal, even if I have to change my number.
What would you say is the best way to go?
Thanks for your help.

Hi - if you ever make any calls at all on landlines that you have to pay for, if you get a contract you won't have to make those calls and therefore will save on those. So contracts are good if you start making all your calls on them (apart from 0870 and 0843 and 0800 which you can only do on 02).
If you shop regularly at Boots or could do most of your Christmas shopping there it would be worth looking at the 12-month contracts on Boots.com as you can get £360 worth of advantage card points for buying a contract off them. You don't have to 'claim' them by sending off the right bill at the right time - all you do is go into Boots and put your advantage card in the machine and it puts the points on for you.
If you pay £30 a month then you've got your money back in adcard points, and if you pay £35 a month then you're only down £60. You must cancel at the end of the 12 months though or you don't save anything after that!
hope this helps

Hi Judith
I think we have to claim our points on the seventh month within 30 days of the bill date otherwise our claim will be invalid. I read the T &Cs. But it looks good as we can rely on a big name like Boots.0 -
Found a W810i on Dial-A-Phone, 7 months £1.99 rental, then £30 for the remaining 5 months. I also have a benefit book from work which offers £45 cashback when you take out a contract deal with Dial-A-Phone, so in total it works out at £118.93!0

The O2 250 on e2save is a pretty good deal:
