Killer heels and a wheelchair?

  • Long term, you shouldn't wear heals with your wheelchair. But for the odd night out an exception can be made! .. Especially as you have already bought them, it wouldn't be very MSE to just leave them lying around unworn now would it :rotfl:

I'm glad to see you are well enough to have a few hours out at a Christmas party :j

I'm a wheelchair user and I wear heels, never caused me any problems, just have to arrange height of chair and foot rests so that your body is in correct position.

Enjoy your time out of hospital

... a poll of the nurses says heels are a bad idea when you're on wheels.

And Nurses training qualifies them to give an informed opinion ... ?

    Rubbish...

The mental/emotional lift you will get from looking drop-dead gorgeous will FARRRR outweigh any improbable difficulties.
Go for it girl, and have a good time.
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
  • After what you've been through, I'd say you're fully entitled to wear the heels and have done with it!

Hope you have a lovely time!

I hadnt wore heels for over a decade (as I was on crutches or in a wheelchair) so when I became a fulltime wheelchair user so I went mad and made up for lost time, what a mistake!

Transfering is hell in heels, they catch everywhere and wearing them has been the only time Ive had to use the crip alarms is dis loos much to my eternal embarassment so they are all now relegated to the shoe rack apart from a couple of hours once or twice a year when I have to get them removed if I need the loo, thank god I dont need the loo like normal people do!

Get the heels Jen if that's what you want, they wont kill you if your sensible and you have enough common sense to know they are not everyday wear.
  • I wouldn't hesitate to wear hopelessly inappropriate footwear if I were no longer required to stand up in them. http://www.loveburlesque.com/shoes/bordello-teeze/clear-lucite-platform-shoes-by-pinup-couture.html

Perhaps as a more long term measure, you could find some more striking but flatter shoes for everyday use?

Don't forget the rock star pedicure (graduated shades of glitter) for when you need to take them off - and a pretty drawstring bag for keeping them in.

    Have a lovely time!
