I've taught applied maths before and I am an English prof.
You seem to be confused about the definition of 'professor'. Being a lecturer at a university does not make you a professor. A professorship is an award that is bestowed upon you for excelling in your field, usually after decades of outstanding contribution.
Unless you have been awarded a professorship, you are not a professor.0 -
Are they even allowed to ask that?
I'm pretty damn sure they can't ask you your sexual orientation. I'd be all over asking why I was asked this, about procedures etc. and then complaining to hell and back.
edit.
it wasnt my adviser who was asking the questions. someone else handled my induction.0 -

You do not have to answer as they are all optional questionsand you can not be asked them to your face as they have to be anonymous.

Morlock - I was a professor, not a lecturer. I am aware of exactly what it entails to be awarded this title.
My point was I taught English and communications is my field, but I was able to privately tutor other subjects such as applied maths.0 -
My appointments with an advisor for the past couple of months have consisted of the exact same thing, again and again.... not quite sure what the point is.0

well I phoned the WP today to tell them that my GP has signed me off again and they said I still had to go in for my appointment. I have refused.
Apparently someone will ring me back this afternoon to discuss why I don't think I should have to go in for job search......surely it's obvious, I'm currently claiming ESA not JSA, there is no requirement to search for work while on ESA.
(I am still looking but thats because I want to and it makes me feel a bit better about myself, I just don't need the WP hassling me and breathing down my neck right now I've got enough problems without them adding to the list. )0 -

I'm still waiting for the phone call. I think they finish work at 4.30 so doubt they will phone today now. I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow morning so if they try then they will be out of luck as I won't answer my phone in the middle of the doctors surgery.0
