Parking over a private driveway

Hi all hoping you can help me . I have heard the law states you cannt BLOCK someone into their own driveway by parking over it but you can "normally park over someones driveway if they are not parked there. Can someone please provide hard truth to this story.
My story ..
On sunday morning at 9am i arrived at a property in my tranny van to do a small job (non emergency)for the residents. Service users and their carers . In and out with tools i parked over their driveway and maybe 25%(about 2 ft) over the next door drive. There was not a car in the drive it was outside (vauxhall corsa) and i worked it would still very easily get up the drive if it wanted to. Job done within a hour and i left. Later the house i was at phoned me to say the police had called in person to say for me and anyone else not to park infont of next doors drive again. They havent contacted me although the police told the house i was at they seen digital photos and i was (in their words ) about 2 ft over. The owner of the drive had been out and took photos from different angles ???? Why didnt he knock ?? "Xcuse can ya move ya van" He later confronted a carer at the house and warned her "he would report them and get a £40 fine for parking over his drive again" I have told them it b0ll0x and now on my way down there just to tell him he is a sh1th0use kn0b head low life . just wondering where in the eyes of MR Plod do i stand.
Thanx in advance

Actually if you spoke to me like that, I'd wait till it was dark and put your windows in.
He maybe didnt want to come and ask you to move your van, maybe he found you intimidating, which is exactly how your are coming over on here.
No idea whether its illegal to park their or not but its extremely ignorant and thouhtless.
Hope you calm down before you go. Its not his fault.
And I might add going down there using threatening behaviour is a criminal offence.
Or are you just trollingmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Just out of curiosity, why didnt you park in the drive instead of over it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

IIRC you can be fined for parking in front of a dropped curve, even the one to your own drive.
Sounds like the plod were sensible and did you a favour.
If you don't find joy in the snow,
remember you'll have less joy in your life
...but still have the same amount of snow!0 -

Thanks are you correct here . I always park over my home drive with my car to stop my van being pinched ! Must of misread all the stuff about parking and blocking access in and out . Thanks0 -
Rather than block the drive and expect the occupier to come and find you, you could have knocked on their door and asked if they would mind you parking in such a way, explaining that you had been called out to do a job in a neighbouring property. That would have been far better."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

You can be issued a PCN for parking over a dropped kerb if the resident complains to the council and they come and catch you parked there.
The police normally only issue a FPN if you cause an obstruction by blocking someone in! However the police can see any obstruction they want!0 -

So this was a property residents, carers and services, and there was only room for one car and that was in the drive ...............
Give over.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

As I understand it you can not park across a dropped curb which is for access without the permission of the person(s) who use it for such access. So although you may be ticketed for parking across your own dropped curb, because the CEO does not know it is your vehicle across your own access , you will win this on appeal.
Also you can not ever park across dropped curbs where they are provided for wheelchair users etc to cross the road ..these are usually accompanied by studded paving slabs of a different colour to assist the blind/partially sighted so they are very obvious ..no excuse for parking on these.0
