If the traffic was bad around the airport Spur Road whatever car park you were using you would be effected with the traffic queues trying to get in or out.

No, the holdup is on one of the junctions at the Purple Parking end, not the airport end so not all car parks will be affected.
You can get better and quicker transfers in my experience but only if you are prepared to pay about £22 per day (Pink elephant are a lot closer and have more frequent buses).

Purple parking are very good value for holidays and I use them myself for holidays.

Homealone, so pleased the TIPO code still works, will have to get myself registered as a member as it may be advantageous to me for future booking

The Purpleparking site is actually in a residential area and the road can sometimes be a bit slow getting back on to the main road, especially school times. I live in North London traffic moves at a snails pace any old time. This car park suits me just fine and those coming down from up North as the majority of other off- airport car parks are on the other side of the airport and I do not fancy driving past the airport to get the shuttle bus back. NCP often have special rates so always worth checking them out also.

Seems a very long drive, did you consider a flight from NCL or MME to LHR as an add on?

We stayed at the Heathrow Premier Travel Inn the night before our flight to save the worry of driving down on the morning. They do a deal with airport parking and your accomodation. They use Parking Express which is just round the corner from the hotel and there are frequent shuttle buses to Heathrow which vaguely recall only took 10-15mins or so. We had no problems. I think they can only do set amounts of 9 days or 15 days and the extra days are payable at Parking Express's own rate.

I just put in a dummy 28days in the Parking Express booking page (1st - 28th March) and it came up as £99. Have a butchers . . . Parking Express Quote page
