I don't like them, i only go as a last resort when there's long queues at the normal checkouts.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Those SS machine have it in for me I'm sure :rotfl:
Beep, put item in bag......Unexpected item in bagging area. I must be doing it wrong because it happens more often than not lol.0 -
you're not doing it wrong unless I am as well (at Asda). Then the unidentified item in the bagging area just because it feels like it.
I avoid them where possible, I'll just queue up for the fittest checkout bird (unless I've a trolley full of Smart Price stuff of course)0 -

Same here. I do exactly the same for the exact same reason.0 -
We do our main shop from Tescos online, but I go to Asda for top up shops, so I generally use the self service checkouts.
They are ok, except for when you get the nightmarish "unexpected item in bagging area" etc and you have to wait for a non-existent member of staff to appear. I like the way you can dump all your loose change in the machine without anyone sneering at you.
I have only used Tescos self service once and it was fine, but I couldn't work out how to scan my clubcard at first, until I realised there was a barcode on the back of it!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -
As per post #17 its a good way of offloading loose change rather than using coinster and being charged a commission.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

I prefer the self-service machines, at least they don't stop to have a chat with their mate on the till next door in the middle of serving you.0

So true.
I was in Tesco filling station today and the lady finished her conversation with the worker before serving me!
Atleast I though the conversation had finished until they started chatting further whilst putting the fuel card through!!
Nothing makes me angrier than staff having conversations whilst serving. Especially when they also forget to use their please and thanks because their distracted. I must admit though, when this happens I do make off-hand comments suchas 'your-welcome', or answer the question aimed at the other member of staff following by 'oh, im sorry.. i thought you was talking to me'. They soon get the message
Then at the same time, if i'm in a bad mood or don't want a chat - I get angry when they're overly polite.
They can't win either way huh :rotfl:0 -
Perfect for getting rid of change, but I have to say the cashiers in my local ASDA are terrific!Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0
