Dodgy Dixons?

I've been thinking of upgrading the old CRT TV to an LCD one and spotted what looked like a good deal on the Dixons website about a fortnight ago for a 24" Logik for £120. It was a time-limited offer so I decided to go for it as it seemed to get decent reviews. It was on 2-4 weeks lead time though as they were out of stock.
I've just received an email today saying they have cancelled my order. No explanation or reason as to why, just it is cancelled and we'll give you a refund.
This sounds very much to me as if they have sold more than they can get or have decided the price was too cheap and don't want to sell it that cheaply. That model doesn't seem to be on their website any more at the moment...
Do I have any recourse or do I just have to start looking again for a suitable one?

I would just take my money and look for another one.You may even get a better one somewhere else during boxing day sales. You got your money back which is good. Thay had 32" umc tv for £199 in comet and said it's half price but didn't know the name and the guy there tried and failed to convince me to buy it.0

They probably couldn't source any more at that price so cancelled your order - this happens sometimes when you try and buy something that is listed as out of stock.0

T&COnce you’re happy everything is correct and you’ve submitted an order you’ll be given an Order Reference Number and details of the products (and/or services) you have ordered. You’ll then receive an email headed ‘Order Acknowledgement’ recognising receipt of your order. We will then send a further email headed ‘Order Confirmation’ and this is when our contract with you begins. This second email also lets you know how your products will be delivered to you. If we have to cancel all or part of your order for any reason, we will email you to let you know.
Did you receive this0 -
I suspect that is the case. A bit naughty of them as I first spotted it fairly early in the day it was on offer and it was shown as not in stock but due then. They can't have had much stock in the first place...0

Arcon5 - No, I've not received that email. The order is listed in the 'My Account' section of the website and they have taken payment from my card though.0

I wouldnt think too badly of Dixons, Ive bought a couple of major items (and much cheaper than their sister company Currys)
and have nothing but praise for their prices, delivery and customer service.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Logik is a DSG own brand so you'd have thought it wasn't a stock issue.
As an aside, if you're buying a cheap 24" TV, i'd highly recommend checking the sound quality first if you can. Most of the cheaper ones have a hoffifically tinny sound quality.0 -
I'd second that.We bought a bush 24 inch ,the sound was awful, like it was trying to escape out of the telly but not quite managing it!! It got returned to Argos pretty sharpish.
Buying online may save you money but not hassle when you have to return it.At least try in the shop first before ordering the same model online, unless you go for a quality make like Sony or Panasonic.0 -
I would second the comments here - if it's your main tv, go for an established brand as the quality will be noticably better in my experience. I am sure in the sales you will be able to get something like a Toshiba or Samsung 32' for £200-250, which would be a better long term buy.
This £250 Samsung from John Lewis has a 5 year warranty and you won't have to worry about customers service:

I have used Dixons (and PC World and Currys - same group) a lot and they can be a bit hit and miss on customer service. I think it is cheeky when companies take the money before dispatch though.0 -

Almost.... They don't actually make anything. Logik is a brand that Dixons put on whatever cheap tat they bought from one of a myriad of no-name suppliers in Turkey or China this week! Rarely do they get two batches of the same thing....0
