New British Gas policy

It is so nice to be somewhere where there are so many sympathetic people who have got the wrong end of the stick.
As I have said, I only received the initial BILL just over a week ago and therefore their action I feel is a bit to previous, let alone as I am sure some people not of the disposition I am in would feel extremely threatened under the circumstances
I have NEVER not paid a bill but this I feel particularly given the expenses required this time of year, and I am not extravagent or a P*** Head, is a step to far!
It about time that someone, as has been amply reported in the media, huge profits on top of huge rises? tankers waiting of the coast so that they can charge more when the price rises? stopped the increases that are applied by these companies!
And finally what is your answer, freeze to death?????????????????
Chill out love, you will make yourself ill. if i have read this right you do not have the money to pay right now, So talk to them politely and explain. They will help.
If you are on pension credit then you will get £120 warm home payment which will help. Ranting and raving wont do you any good or help your situation.
Wish you well Meg.Slimming World at target0 -
thanks Joyful & Timmy85
At last someone who actually understands the situation!!!
It is clear from what you say and what I already understood that this call I received was outside of the expected policies and at the very least previous to the policies!!!
Why this should be is what concerns me as it would for sure be presumed by some, as I have said, threatening and bullying and for sure NOT the best of actions to have been taken given the time of year and which would certainly scare some people into doing something that could be predjudicial to their health and welfare?
Contrary to what some on here may think I am not a person who does not pay his bills, however circumstances and experience dictate that DD is not a prefered option as they tend to be over estimated and acrue finances that are needed elsewhere.
It is also unfortunate that I have been decline the free Insulation available due to the age of my property and construction, on the grounds that it may negate any of the installers warranties.
It would appear, although this is off topic, that unless you have a perfect property of a perfect age and construction, the help that is obviouly needed by way of insulation as the property is NOT of the perfect age and construction is something of an enigma, i.e. it is specifically because of the age and construction that insulation is needed in the 1st place?
It is unfortunate that with the onset of age and the financial situation of the times money is an enigma to say the least, and it certainley does not help with there being judgemental statements being made by people of NO understanding of the situation?
Under the circumstances, being that a policy has been circumvented, I shall wait and see if I get the reminder I requested, by which time finances may have improved?
and which would certainly scare some people into doing something that could be predjudicial to their health and welfare?
I would think that a polite phone call reminding someone that their account is overdue is preferable to the old red letter which scares the proverbial out of many.
I shall wait and see if I get the reminder I requested, by which time finances may have improved
You won't get annoyed again if the next reminder is a red letter will you ?
If on receiving the red letter, your finances are still in a mess, what then ?0 -
I have just received a phone call from British Gas in respect of an overdue bill in which the operative stated they no longer send out reminders!!!!!!!!!
The bill itself is only outstanding by about a week???
Now I cant say exactly what I said for fear of embarrassing a few with the language due to my instant anger but basically:-
I responded saying that as far as I was concerned particullarly as I had NOT had any notification of this new policy NOT to send reminders any more, that the use of a telephone call was nothing more than extortion and blackmail, particullarly as, in my opinion, there was enough extortion already with the scale of charges since de-regulation of the fuel supply industry and particularly recent costs, that these costs were already putting the elderly and at risk in danger of their lives, and that the use of a telephone call was just further disgustingly inappropriate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to say that I was not able to check the call location that this call came from to verify it was who they say it was, but from the detail I was given it did seem real?
It used to be that when the fuel industries where a Nationalised Industry there was always consideration of the Consumer, NOW it is just pure GREED and BULLYING if this call was real????
My final comment to the caller was, you send me a reminder and the bill will be paid, if I have the money, which as a pensioner is tight????
I cannot express the anger i feel about this and it is about time someone got to grips with the Fuel Suppy industry to make COSTS REALISTIC, and their policies and procedures FAIR TO ALL, not everyone can pay by internet so why should those that do get fuels cheaper for one thing, AAAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH
I am so angry :mad::mad::mad:
Probably because i used to work for the old industry which wasnt perfect but had scruples?????????????
Here is an idea. If you had paid your bill on time, you wouldn't get reminder letters OR phone calls.
Pay up or turn off your electricity and gas. The rest of us don't want to subsidise your tardiness.0 -

This actually makes me feel a deal of sympathy for the poor bod on the other end of the call having to deal with your self righteous and unjustified rant. Calm down.0 -
Now for those response that have been so sympathetic and presumptuous I would ask you to google the following phone number
01613326130
You will see from my original post that i stated I was unable to get the callers phone number, as another call came in b4 I could before someone asks?, maybe when you have read about this number from whom I have just had a call, it may change your opinions???
And then reconsider your response
It may also explain why the caller put the phone down and why he pronounced my name incorrectly, which I ignored as many do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would also be prudent if the administrators of this forum were also judgemental of other posters and their response??? As if people want to profer abuse to me, I WILL RESPOND IN KIND, and just maybe the perpetrators rather than the recipiants will have their posts cut!!!!!!!!!!!!Signature removed0 -

Ted, that number is for British Gas accounts, ring it and see.
Before I moved to a different supplier, I used it to check my account and to pay my bill when I was abroad.
I think you may need option 2 though.0 -
Clearly you havnt looked at the accounts given on google for that number, and are not aware of telescammers
Wise up and YOU may learn not everything is as YOU see it

Ted, simply dial that number then post on here who you get.
Bet it's not a telescammer. :rotfl:
Don't believe all your read on Google.
P.s. If you skim through all the 15 pages, going back to 2008 on 'whocallsme' you will find that many on there were getting the calls due to their bills being overdue.
Wise up and YOU may learn not everything is as YOU see it
No need to shout Ted.
I've no need to wise up, I was just advising you that it is a number I used to use to pay my British Gas bills on.
Just double checked and in fact it's still saved in my mobile and landline phone books.
I was simply trying to put your mind at rest.
Best not to bother trying to help then .:(0 -
If you were wise you would understand that I and the links refer to incoming calls on a number that is hijacked, as many are!
To many and to a point that you can no longer rely on who says who they are from or what they say!
Much like some people who post on forums!
I have no doubt the number is a British Gas number, but that does not confirm that it is an incoming call from British Gas and apart from my issues as stated anyone who give personal or financial information over a phone is not wise either, and British Gas should know that to!
What you and a few others is not to try to help or put my mind at rest, it is just to ridicule and make arrogant assumptions, if you cant act in a responsible adult manner then its best you DONT answer anyones posts!
Cyber bullying is as bad as phone bullying, but i dont do either, or put up with it!Signature removed0
