How much do dogs cost?

Also I thought this thread was about the costs of a dog - Not whether my dog wears a collar or not ? It is our choice and we yes run the risk of having a fine - but we have had him 6 years our next door neighbour is a policeman and i doubt it too much he is worried about whether our dog on a lead has a collar on.
Make £200 by end of January... £20.42/£200
Grocery Challenge £200 pm Jan £0/£200
January no spend days - 1/310 -

But surely you are the one that brought up the issue in your post on how little your dog cost in that you itemised that he didn't have a collar.
It isn't unreasonable for people to point out that a dog not having a tag in a public place is against the law, and therefore isn't something that should be saved on. Whether you are happy to break the law is up to you, but certainly isn't something I would do or recommend to others.
Incidentally in law the Vets and their car park are a public place (as the public have access to them) it doesn't matter that they are privately owned.0 -
I find it hard to believe your friend is a professional breeder yet she hasnt given you advice about the costs involved in buying and caring for a dog?0

Original vaccinations. micro chipped came in with the price of our dog - the breeder done it all for us.
Dog training classes cost us £75 for 6 weeks intensive course. one off cost

God yes i had to sit down for a cup of stong tea, thankfully our kids are all grown up only one at home who is 17 who is cheaper than the dogs
After Feb though the cost will go down as the initial expense were buying them, and the kennals fences ect were really one of big things that wont be done again for a while i hope, now its just general doggie stuff ( i hope ) but i wouldnt be without them though
i know about the hand made collars we have had two of those on our bullmastiffs as standard ones dont fit them either
Welshwoofs wrote: »:rotfl: I bet that scared you when you wrote it all down didn't it! I've just the one Mastiff, but I gulped when I actually wrote down on here what he cost.....and a couple of hours later the doorbell went with a new bed for him at the cost of £140.
Even the last collar I got for him was handmade by a saddler because he has a 32" neck and 'off the peg' collars wouldn't fit.....that set me back £80
Mastiffs are a !!!!!! on the food when puppies too - mine spent the first 18 months on a mixture of chicken and tripe mince with goats' milk....I've noticed he eats less as an adult then when he was growing though.0
