Wow I'm screwed. Mum's o2 phone bill comes up to £220.

Well you won't get out of paying that bill but you could give them a ring and ask if you could pay it over a longer time
offer them like £5 a week on top of your normal bill they may except it

Pay up asap and reinstate the direct debit or her credit file will end up showing missed payments and the debt could be be passed to a debt recovery firm if you delay.

If you read some other threads on here, you will see these are not lies. Cancel a DD and the system shows that a payment has ben missed. Payments and missed payments are reported utomatically to the credit reference agencies.
And you will find that faceless, automatic computer systems have a programmed path that will result in debt recovery being employed.
Suggest you do read up some previous threads before giving out wrong advice.0 -

I may not always express myself clearly enough but if you bothered to read my reply properly you will see that I said that if they delayed sorting this out they would have problems.
Of course not having a dd set up isn't a problem if an alternative method of payment is set up, however the cancelled dd will cause a missed payment on their credit file if it isn't sorted asap.
You basically said the same thing as me but in a different way, if read my reply properly you would have realised.if you delay.

Your best bet is to ask O2 to recalculate the bill as if you had bought their most favourite bundle in advance. O2's International Favourites bundle would do the trick.0

You really should read the rest of the posts you are quoting too....
OP, as others have said, you'll have to pay the bill, even though it was run up by mistake. But worth calling O2 and explaining what happened. They might reduce the cost a little and at least offer a means to pay it back over time.

Your best bet is to ask O2 to recalculate the bill as if you had bought their most favourite bundle in advance. O2's International Favourites bundle would do the trick.
They wont allow you to do that either - to qualify for the bolt on you have to purchase it & dial a number in the UK that transfers you over to the Hong Kong number.
You would have had to have purchased this before you made the calls.
