I an wondering if for the £ per cubic meter . Is it cheaper to build a garage from breeze blocks (signle skin) or buy a prefab-sectional garage? (cost at £2529 with flat roof)
Im think of a about 50 cubic meters.
many thanks JIM

I'd say it will depend on whether you intend to build it yourself or get a builder in. blocks are cheap but when you start adding up all the other items like doors , timber and tiles for the roof the prefab one will probably be cheaper.0

Do you need to get planning permission for garages?Nothing to see here, move along.0

My Compton garage cost me double that, it is a 14x11 size, but i did have the high apex roof etc.
I had a prefab one because it was built right up to my boundary without any problems, and i couldn't work out how you could build a block wall and render a it without doing it from next doors garden.
Also, i work nights, and i didn't want workmen there for weeks on end making a mess, with my garage, they built it in one day.
PM me if you want a picture, the prefab ones can look quite good.
I did write to the council asking if i needed planning permission, in my case i didn't.Sponsored by Tesco Clubcard Points !!0 -
I bought a second hand garage for £250....look on ebay and the local papers......roof cost £200 (pitched) and the footings £350.......

I had a Compton garage and recently sold it and had a garage built instead, although i have to say there was nothing wrong with the prefab, it was just a bit ugly(if you know what i mean)0

If it was me then I'd build the garage myself using blocks. Me and a friend built a very large shed ourselves (footings plus single skin concrete blocks). I reckon you could build a garage for around £1500-2000.Happy chappy0

if you need planning permission will depend on the position of the garage in relation to your house, the road your neighbours house etc
as long as the garage is less than 5.5 m x 5.5 m you don't need building regulation approval0 -
i was thinking about one my house is on a higher level than the neighbours, it would be on our drive then there would be her drive which is fenced off but the side would be facing her kitchen window would i need planning0

how far would it be from your boundary?0

You could always clad the prefab garage if you get one cheap and cant spend the time building one from scratch.
