I don't think anyone can say "most employers" as you don't know that.
BTW I do work hard (same as most employees) and I am rewarded for that at the end of every month. No need for Christmas parties or thank yous.
You just said *private and public employers*.
By parties - I mean meal out in restaurant. The vast majority of smaller, medium sized companies always have had parties whenever I've worked for them. Huge ones, I don't know as I've only worked for a *big 5* accountancy *big* firm and yes they did have a party. As I said before at the latter company I got pay rise, can't remember if Xmas bonus or not.
My current company is small, I'm not scoring points with work but have done 2 people's jobs in this past week but I just think my boss was being generous this year with the cash bonus.
Saying that though, I worked on contract for public sector companies for 2 years before starting this job (been there 20 months now). and previously worked in private companies. So maybe positions have changed in these past 4 years due to the recession and companies have tightened their belts more.0 -
I wasn't criticising the employer more the poster. Have you not read any of her past posts? She comes across as one of the most miserable, ungrateful employees on the earth (don't just take my word for it) so I would not be surprised if she's making things up or gets conveniently passed over for bonuses etc.
I was not ungrateful at all I was the longest serving member of the team. How can you be ungrateful when all you get is a salary?
I can assure you I am not making this up at all no matter what you think of my other posts and NO ONE GETS A BONUS!!
Get it? NO ONE!
If I told you the company I worked for and I wouldn't I bet you have never heard of them.
You do not have to mention the Roux Brothers as my last co was not even in their league! Maybe they valued their staff - all of them.0 -
Not to argue a point. But just the other week my friend had her birthday party in a restaurant (well known, more than one in London) where her boyfriend works. OK, so it wasn't free but there was a good discount on the meal. I have no idea what her boyfriend got in way of meal.
Why is your friend getting a discount when she doesn't work there?
Also how do you know it's a good discount? Comapred to who else?
Please do not say its a good discount when you have no idea.
Compared to some places it may be but then why not tell us how much and we can all say you are lying if we know places who give their staff.
Just because I say we got nothing doesn't mean I am lying, its a fact0 -

Ok let's leave it there shall we? I'm only going on your past posts.
So your company was small?
To be brutally honest, as you have stated you stayed in your previous job for a few years, I would have left after a few years for a job where you are treated better, like Roux Brothers. Of course, as we all know, this is harder now, but back then it wasn't. And I should know as I left jobs sometimes for better perks etc.
I don't mean to be unkind but you do seem (on other posts always seem this way) to be down on other people and I just think that's reflected sometimes in bonuses etc. But as you say it applied to other members of staff so perhaps they were Scrooge of the Century employers.0 -

Her boyfriend got the discount on her behalf as he was at the meal.
It was 40% discount. At discretion of the manager. I think 40% is pretty good going there. They also threw in a few bottles of wine free.0 -

I have no idea what other way I can say this but NO ONE got a bonus at my last job. Its not hard to get , surely? Why would a company who want to line their pockets give anyone anything other than a salary? Like I have said I am not a job hopper.
It matter not if they were big or small its how well the owners value the staff etc.
I was there 5 years and never expected ANYTHING other than the salary as like the jobs previous that I have had in the same industry. Going forward looking for a job I have been asked what benefits I am after in the my next job and they do not matter to me since I have never had any.0 -

40%? I have no idea if that's good or bad .
Guess its good if you get less or bad if you get more!
Oh yeah and the wine wouldn't be 'free' the restaurant would have to 'comp' them off and obviously lose out a bit in the GP % for the liqour stock take0 -
