    we had hail :( boo!
  • Hail is not fun :(
Ah well, at least the bad weather meant I stayed in and had a NSD. Cleaned the kitchen and baked like a good 'un. Now have bokes of cupcakes, scones and cookies to last the week ahead :)

Also managed to list anothe 7 things on ebay. Don't know if they'll sell and I think most will be for low amounts if they do but I'm still trying to look at the big picture. I'm going to try to let the money in my paypal account build up a bit and transfer it out in £50 blocks- that way it makes a good amount for a payment and I can focus on the total rather than all the little sales. That's the plan anyway!

  • Managed to make a payment to CC1 to get it down to a nice round number. I'm sad but that always makes me feel better :)
Have done the Mr T price check again- it doesn't pay out very often but as there's only them around here its still worth it.
Baked more buns- they're going down well with Mr FF- and I'm trying to dry some washing in the kitchen while its still warm from the oven.
I have bids on 2 items on ebay and watchers on 2 more so we'll see how it goes at the weekend.
So much for my exciting day off back to work tomorrow :D

Hi FF, I like nice round numbers too! Though your CC1 looks to have gone UP, not down - hope that's either a mistake or me reading it wrong!
Have you seen this thread on the Grabbit board for the Mr T price check -
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3806387
I've only just started using it, but the nack apparently is to put your shopping through the checkout as two seperate transactions - one for things you're buying things that are good deals at Mr T, and a seperate one for where Mr A would be cheaper. Then you're more likely to get a result on that receipt. Mr T is the only one near me too, so definitely worth trying for us.

Hope the ebaying goes well x
LBM Dec 2011. Aimed, but failed, to clear all unsecured debt by Feb 2019. Finally free of unsecured debt 21st May 21!

    Debt Dec 11: Unsecured £69,579 + Mortgage £59,948 = £129,527
Debt May 21: Unsecured ZERO! ZILCH! Mortgage £22,332
  • Well spotted Happy! CC1 has indeed gone up. I transferred the cost of Mr FF's flights and car hire for the funeral to it as its interest free and we just didn't have the money to pay for them upfront. hence the total debt is now back to where it was at the end of Jan rather than having gone down further.
So, hoping for lots of ebay sales and few family crises over the next few months :)

  • Thanks for advice on the price check, I'll have to try that. At the moment I get about 1 in 3 but its money I wouldn't have otherwise.

  • Time for an update then.... the tricky thing is I'm not doing anything that interesting at the moment. I've hit that point where its all little bits.
The grocery challenge is being really good for us and meal planning/home cooking is making a big difference. The tricky bit is limiting the entertainment budget. Going out for the odd meal does really cheer us up but it is tough to make sure that it is only the odd one.... :D
On the one hand I know we're in a much better position now. On the other I just keep seeing potential problems looming. I need to find some room in the budget to top up the savings pot for cars and heating oil but I feel it should all be going to the cc for when the balance tranfer runs out. Ho hum....
Updating my sig is good though. I can slowly see the total creeping down. I've also joined the sparkle fund and I'm saving up for a haircut.... never thought I'd say that :p

  • Bit of a tough week so far. I have some holiday time :j but Mr F's depression has been bad. His moods are so ip and down at the moment that I don't know if I'm coming or going. Also because work has been busy lately and I've le things slide at home a bit my holiday started with housework upon housework which did cause a bit of a teary day. Mr F has been a bit better today and managed to pull himself together enough to clean the bathroom which let me catch up on a bit of studying today.
I've managed another weekly payment which is good. On the other hand we went out to the pub on Monday and spent nearly £40 on dinner  It did help cheer Mr F up though so it was worth it. I just need to be willful and not order dessert next time :D
I'm thinking it would be good to have an envelope with entertainment money for the month to moderate our spends a bit but it may be a while before Mr F's up to talking about it.
Anyway off to visit relatives tomorrow so lsd in supermarket this week... the ups and downs of the mse life :D

Depression is an awful illness to have and to live with someone suffering from it. Make sure that you make some time for yourself.
  • Thanks for your kind words snozberry. Most of the time we cope but every so often it does get on top of us. Still we are lucky in so many ways not the least having each other to muddle through life with.
