Has anyone seen gritters out this year yet?
I'm dreading going to work tomorrow as it seems everywhere is covered with snow - now melted - and we have clear skies which means that turning to ice. And far too many motorists don't give a damn. Anyway.....
Travelling between home and work on the motorways I've seen plenty of signs for salt spreading but never actually seen a gritter at all. Has anyone actually seen one? None have been round near me at all and a freind who has just returned home has said that the motorways aren't too bad but main roads are pretty grim.

They have been out around my area although I don't go out as much as I used to so don't see them as much.0

Haven't actually seen one but driving home at 4am Friday and all the roads had been nicely gritted. They are out there working away.0

I went passed one on the way home on Friday.. Not looking forward to the morning either, my 4x4 is off the road until I can pick up some HT leads tomorrow which means I have to take the MR2. The second car was so I didn't have to drive the MR2 in snow / ice; it's pretty icy out at the minute although the weather for here isn't too bad tomorrow (rain and between 6c & 9c) so hopefully it won't be too bad.0

Yes they've been in evidence a few times this month. Didn't see them tonight but the evidence is all over the roads.0

Saw two on A64 Malton bypass (North Yorks) on Thursday. We haven't even had any snow yet just hailstones, and frost0

I live on a narrow country lane in Worcestershire with a flow of about five cars an hour, but which has a steep hill. I've seen the gritters twice in the last week. Presumably they've been up and down more than that as I don't spend my day gazing out of the window.
Full marks to Worcs CC so far."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Yes I've passed them a few times working, also saw one parked up in a layby this morning. I expect the driver was on his break, but it was fully fitted with a snow plough as well.
My car was covered in salt when i got home, so I've had to give it a good wash.0 -
