o christmas tree, o christmas tree, thy leaves are so unchanging - MY EYE

  • Good morning!

The tree is still intact and the kitties have showed no interest whatsoever in it so far today:j.

I plan on spraying again before leaving for work, and we'll see how we go.

Possibly a minor problem, our eldest cat loves chilli and spicy foods, and I suspect she was licking up the tabasco off the floor overnight. She ate her food this morning but was crying a bit afterwards and sicked up a bit of fluid. She seems ok now, but I'm going to have to mix a bit of lavender oil with the tabasco spritz to keep her away from it, I think.

  • I wonder if JoJo's hit on something ...... neither of mine were spring babies (late summer & beg Nov) - Archie was only around 6 weeks when the 1st tree arrived (I had him from 4 weeks old) and wonder if he remembers how much fun he had...... Mia was slightly older but still very much a baby ......
I think that's it in a nutshell - mine are both young enough to be fascinated by the bling, and old enough to be able to climb and shred amazingly well :D.

  • My tree is still standing - 48 hours after it was put up.

Teddy walked in, sniffed it and went on his cat tree.

George is in the cage so no chance of him getting to it.

Macius - hmmmm he picks one thingy of a trea at a time and teases Fred with it. They play with it till I take it off them and exchange for a cat toy....

Macius tried to climb up the tree few times, he is tiney - the problem is Fred tries to follow him... sigh......

Had to untangle them both few min ago ... sigh....
    Aww :rotfl:.

There's no pleasing me really - I was just thinking 'rats - I never took a photo of them in the tree!', like this one of another of our cats, who spent her first Christmas with us practically living in the tree!

  • I have two 2 year old cats, one of them climbs right up to the top of the tree knocking all the baubles off on the way and the other one climbs half way up then lies on the branches. Luckily they are tiny so haven't knocked over the tree, but as soon as the baubles fall off the dog thinks they are fair game and runs around with the baubles:mad:

I have 6 cats and a Yorkie, none have really ever shown much interest in climbing the tree, although I do have the shatterproof platic baubles around the bottom branches which they do like to bat, and I have to put the chocolate and candy canes on the higher branches otherwise the dog steals them.

i read this thread yesterday when it went up and felt all smug because my cats were not showing much interest in the tree this year.

then yesterday evening one of them decided to take a flying leap at it. all the branches (artificial) on one side were flattened where she fell straight to the floor!! poor old fairy was knocked off and i had one sheepish looking puss cat!!

hopefully she has learnt her lesson and wont try it again

When my dog was a puppy he was delighted with the real Christmas tree I bought. He thought I'd got him an inside loo for Christmas and lifted his leg every time he went past it!!

    I must be very lucky.

Gizmo has seen this all before 2 years ago when we did christmas decorations at OH home.. he wasn't bothered then and it was an artifitial tree.

This year is Georgies first christmas and we have a real tree 2 years running (same tree) they know this is the tree that lives in the garden but jazzed up.

Gizmo started to play with the tinsel, and perry the pup nudged him away to say no you are not allowed, Georgie and Gizmo just love staring at the led lights.

The dog thinks he should tell them off if they are naughty so although OH deocrated the tree (not asking him again 5 baubals and a bit of tinsel)
    no one has climbed it.
