Sure, the OP may be a niave 17 year old, but I seriously think this thread needs stickied as people three times her age still ask this question on a regular basis.
I don't think this is a troll or she's even stupid, this thread routinely pops up posted by people old enough to take out a contract in their own name and anybody who's ever done customer service for a mobile network's been asked this question by people of all ages.
The answer at least 99% of the time is going to be no, there's no get out of jail free clause for contracts for obvious reasons.
If your personal circumstances (finances, feelings towards a handset, move house) change then you're out of luck, if the network purposely changes something (mistakes happen, so does downtime) and it is detrimental to you in some way then you may have a chance to cancel without paying term fees depending on what and how badly it effects you, but most of the time the answer's going to be "no".0
