electric heaters or Gas Central Heating. Which is cheaper??

Over the last couple of years, I have organised my life around a small number of portable electric heaters and a large quantity of thermal underwear (times are hard...).

I now only use gas for a twice-weekly shower.

But the government is 'encouraging' the energy suppliers to move away from 2-tier tariffs, and force everybody to pay a daily standing charge (this was already happening before the PM's recent outburst).

As a result, my quarterly gas gas bill is likely to increase from less than a fiver to more than £20!
