I have nearly £30 of LVs given as rewards for online surveys. I have no use for them and would like to give them to a charity. I've asked a couple of local charities, but they can't use them. Any ideas of charities that would find them hlepful?

Any charity which has volunteers, staff or clients and has access to Sainsbury's Morrisons etc - even if it is just to buy biscuits and coffee for hospitality purposes. Perhaps those you asked didn't know how to use them.
  • The trouble is that some shops are very fussy as to what they're used to buy. LVs are supposed to be for buying 'lunch' eg sandwiches, bottles of drink, pies etc, and NOT for items like coffee, tea etc, and some shops are very careful to adhere to that - which is why the local charities won't take them.

I use mine for my regular weekly shop without any difficulty.

However, possibly charities which meet clients 'off-site' might be able to use them: the one I work for regularly meets clients at coffee shops etc, some of which will take LVs.

I've never had a problem in using LVs for anything edible in supermarkets which accept LVs - Sainsbury's, Tesco Morrisons any way.

You say you "have no use for them" so I guess you never go to any of those supermarkets to buy food. Could you name the charities which have refused your offer?
  • I wouldn't shop in Tesco if they paid me! I have no use for the LVs, because I don't need to, and I'd rather they go somewhere that they would be useful. The two charities were local ones ie IOW - the Food Bank, and I think it was the Salvation Army that a friend asked for me. Our local Co op won't take the LVs for anything that isnt a 'bona fide' meal, nor would the Budgeons near my daughter. I rarely shop at the other supermarkets - the nearest is 12 miles away, but it has the advantage that local shops get the business.
  • wow thats really kind of you x x
  • I'm sure a homeless charity would be able to take them on to give to people to use surely?

  • You could buy food with them, and give that to a food drive. You could sell/swap them with someone who would use them and give the cash to a charity.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • But, the point is, we only have a Co op here and they won't take them. Someone from the forum has now contacted me, and would like them for a 'good cause'. The LVs should be winging their way after Christmas, hopefully! Thanks all.
  • Fair enough, but I'm surprised to hear that even on the Isle of Wight there's nowhere to spend them!
