re tuning tv

Hello, We recently noticed a couple of freeview channels said 'no signal' so we re tuned the tv and now we can only receive a small number of freeview channels and the channel numbers are all over the place eg. BBC1 is now number 37 and ITV 1 is number 29 and QVC is now number 1! We have an outdoor ariel and have retuned the TV a number of times.
Any advice would be helpful

Has your TV got built in Freeview or are you using a separate box?
In either case how old is the set?
Have you checked the wiring from your aerial, and if the aerial itself is pointing in the right direction, after the recent bad weather.

The tv is 3 years old and has a built in freeview,we looked at the ariel and it does not seemed to have moved since the strong winds ect.
We took the tv into the kitchen to try it in a different room and retuned the tv using an indoor ariel, bbc1, bbc2 returned back to position number 1 and 2,the freeview channels were still all over the place.

Kaptain, isn't it possible to re-set your channels using the TV's menu?

Hi.
I had a simalar problem.
I called the TV manufacturer who sent me an email with full details on how to do it.
Basically you may be tuning into the wrong transmitter. it is to do with the MUX, don't ask!!

sorry what does re-set your channels using the TV's menu mean,not the same as retuning it i presume.

Your manual should have clear detials about resetting/finding channels. It will also give instructions how to Auto search for available signals. During the scan, confirm and enter the ones you want, you will be able to allocate the numbers to the channels after you TV has recognised them.
