  • Remember the £500,000 win a farm competition that the Covent Garden Soup Company ran?

Nobody won it and it's causing a stink on the social networking websites and is not doing the brand any favours either:

Should have been a random draw like how many competitions are run.

Hello everyone and apologies for this thread but please can you help me find a competition I saw on here. I think it was a facebook competition where you had to upload a picture of you and/or friends and/or family posing in front of a sign or looking at a website for a company - I cant remember if it was an electronics company. I have tried searching but with little success. Can anybody recall a competition like this? :embarasse

    Thanks for your time!

  • Just wondered if anyone else had an opinion on this. There was a competition on Ford UK Facebook to win a car worth upto £22,000 that was only open for 48 hours. Just checked their website and it said the winner had been emailed. Yet they said they cannot release the name of the winner as they only have their email address and no name & that they have asked the winner not to say anything about their win :undecided. Now to me this makes the comp seem a bit suspicious. So I just wondered if it's completely acceptable for people who run competitions to not let other entries know who the winner is? (Not individually but say on Facebook on their wall)? Thanks guys I'm new to comping so be gentle with me. Hope this post is in the right place

I'm in two minds about this one. If for example, there was a winning code printed on one of the packs of soup and nobody claimed it and that was made clear in the T & C's, then I reckon that is fair enough.

I don't know legally, but a lot of comps specify in their terms and conditions that you can find out the name and County of the winner if you send an SAE. Perhaps when the winner checks their emails, they will post on the Ford facebook page (rushes off to check emails). I expect someone else more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Sorry - it doesn't ring any bells with me, but I didn't want you to feel I was answering everyone else and ignoring you.

Oh right I didn't realise you could do that, thanks for the advice. Think I'll give it a few days as Ford may just be waiting for the competition winner to reply before Ford reveal their name. However, it was just unusual to me that they said they 'had asked the winner not to mention anything on FB' ? Anyway I guess we will find out and if not I think I'll send an SAE like you said. Unless your inbox had an email from Ford! :)
  • reading this page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hoax-Slayer/69502133435?sk=wall I found out there is an Aldi Survey competition scam doing the rounds

  • Hi there. I've been getting missed calls from an 08452863010 - answering machine for Hay Marketing Media group. Would this be about a competition I entered or just a marketing call trying to sell me something (I might have missed a tick box somewhere along the line) Thanks
