Is there any way the answer could be 'LAPTOP'?:o
chrissiehiya chrissie,
i'm sorry, i've not the foggiest ideai've tried allsorts of combinations & the mag doesn't give any clue or help how
to help solve the puzzle, usually codewords you just put the letter which they give you in the numbered relevant squares,
but this one has 2 numbers in some of the squares,
i assumed the 6 would be A, 18 Y etc but must be wrong,
would be great if you could show how you figured out LAPTOP for the answer :j
this one has me stumped
thanks for replying & helping, you're an :A

I've had a look and I don't think that's the answer - the words won't work with those letters.
you are correct in assuming the 6=a 18=y etc, but you have a couple incorrectly marked in the scanned doc.
I've looked and looked and have no idea!

hi, help needed please,
been trying to fathom this out
for ages now but am not getting anywhere with it
can anyone help please
Do you think the top number in the circle is the letter in th grid of 26 letters and the lower letter in the circle is where the letter appears in the row of just 6.
Or am I just being daft and you already know this?
Edit while I was typing others seem to have had the same idea. Still can not work out the puzzle though. SorryBe Lucky Everyone0 -
I tried working backwards from LAPTOP and it all seemed to fit.Well, you know, my ancestry isn't all hamster.

Hi All
I am a bit of a newbie and have a few questions and and also a thank you.StokieBecks wrote: »I thin a lot of people bookmark the dailies they want to enter and then just work their way through them every day.

Where is this button? I do not see it?Ugh, I logged into my competitions Gmail email account last night to find it had been accessed by someone in Russia! I've changed the password and added the two step verification (a text is sent to your mobile with a code each time you log into the account from a new computer).
Thanks Bonnie, I have just set this up on my main gmail account:j BIG THANKS TO ALL COMP POSTERS, MUCH APPRECIATED :j0 -

I tried working backwards from LAPTOP and it all seemed to fit.
Thanks, hamster:) I love codewords but was baffled by this one - only really tried to get the letters that would fill the grid:o and when I got the two ps & the l, laptop seemed a reasonable fit.
However it was late and I'd had a bit of a rough day so I found it a little bit mind-bending:eek:"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. Hi, fire***fly
Hamster has kindly worked it out properly in a later post and Laptop seems as if it might fit.
The way they have numbered the circles is confusing, I think, and I noticed square 6 in the prize grid was down as 'A' - you had put an A in a circle near the bottom of the grid which also represented the 2 (correctly) in the prize grid but then you rubbed it - I sort of thought you might have been looking at it for a while and getting frustrated:o. Not many 3 letter words end with a H and I am a big Simpsons fan, so DOH seemed a good option at the top of the middle block.
I then cheated and googled 3 letter words ending in A:eek:, that gave me pea (which was wrong for the answer but still helped with grid) for one clue which led to alp for another so LAPTOP seemed a reasonable deduction.
The reason I phrased my reply as I did is that, beneath the puzzle, it says 'One of the words in the list is missing from the grid' which made me think that there was a checklist which you would be able to use to see if Laptop would fit - I'm guessing I was mistaken about that:o
Not sure if this explanation helps in any way:eek: - and still not sure I have helped:rotfl:

hiya chrissie,
just been going through the thread & seen all the help & reply's :j thanks to all xxx :T:T:A
yes, i'd done some in pencil & then scanned it out as i was making a mess of the actual pic, ended up nearly chucking it in the bin
i tried loads of things but was getting nowhere
your first reply with the answer was brilliant & as you do a lot of codewords would believe you'd the correct answer,
i just needed to see how it worked out with the letters to fathom out how they did the thing with the double circled letters
i've not come across one like that before & sometimes have to be shown how it works out so's can learn for the next time
i also was very tired, had been out the night before & didn't get to bed till gone 3 in the morning (helping SIL clear up her party buffet) & then had to be up for half 6 to help do an errand for someone, then was busy during the day (as we all are) so was getting tired & frustrated with the puzzle
i had to log out last night & get some sleep just after you'd replied
no, there wasn't a list, all that was on the scanned page is
just how the puzzle/page appeared in the puzzle book,
you helped tremendously :A:T:T
big thank you to you, hamster & all who helped :A

Hi all and Happy New Year to everyone (esp the posters)
I know this question has been asked before - I don't do Facebook comps as I don't want all my friends to get bombarded with them all or see what I am up to. If I set up a separate comping fb account won't they still be able to find it if they do a search on my name?
More and more comps are fb ones so feel like I'm missing out....
Any help much appreciated!0 -
You can do it on one account. Just separate your comping friends onto a separate list and then when you share a comp you just select the comping list. Thats what I do. Facebook are starting to be very strict with duplicate accounts£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120
