Clydesdale/Barclays Partner Finance: PPI Reclaim??

Hi Everyone!
This is my first time posting on this site. I have come here quite frequently in the past and it has saved me quite a bit of money, so well done this site and thanks for the advice that people have provided here. The information has been invaluable.
I don't know if I have a potential case with Barclays Partner Finance. Previously I dealt with Clydesdale Bank and then all of a sudden my correspondence changed to Barclays. No problem. I just continued to make my payments until my loan came to an end which was about a year ago if memory serves. I took out this loan back in 2004.
Like thousands of other people in the UK I discovered that PPI was mi-sold. I want to know if I even have a case. My loan was for a driving instructor course.
I remember signing a form at the Driving Instructor College for the go ahead to sign up for a loan/finance agreement and then being told I would get a phone call from the finance provider nad details taken over the phone. I don't recall talking at any great length about PPI payments on my loan but I answered a few questions and began the agreement. Now, since the whole PPI fiasco...fast forward to June 2011 where I decided I would contact Barclays Partner Finance to get my paperwork to start my process to reclaim PPI. Initially, I was told they could not located my policy but I continued to bug them and they sent me a copy of the credit agreement with my signature. And just above my signature there are two boxes, one for opting for PPI and another opting out. The option for taking out PPI was checked, it has an X in it which looks like a keyboard character and not handwriting. From what I can remember, I was asked if I wanted PPI with only little information as to what it meant but was really driven home to me a dn highly recommended that I should have it. So better to be safe than sorry I agreed. Then a few days later I received the paperwork that I signed and sent it back to Clydesdale.
Ok, so I signed this thing with hardly any information provided to me regarding PPI and I want to know, do I have a case to reclaim PPI? I do feel as though I've been unfaired here and I want to know is it worth making a case at this stage to reclaim money?
Thanks

If the PPI was paid for with a single premium that was added to the loan then this probably was a missale.
On the other hand, if it was a monthly premium it might well have been prudent to take it out as your livelihood may have been at risk if you could not maintain the repayments.0 -

Thanks Magpiecottage,
I have the breakdown of services that are listed on the credit agreement. I believe the PPI was added to the loan, I just paid it off every month along with the actual loan payments:
CASH PRICE OF GOODS/SERVICES 2895.00
LESS DEPOSIT 0.00
BALANCE TO BE FINANCED* 2895.00
OPTIONAL PAYMENT PROTECTION PREMIUM 607.68
(INCLUDES INS. PREM TAX)
AMOUNT OF LOAN 3502.68
ADD: INTEREST 2188.56
SUBTOTAL: TOTAL AMOUNT PAYABLE LESS DEPOSIT 5691.24
TOTAL AMOUNT PAYABLE 5691.24
MONTHLY PAYMENT 158.09
NUMBER OF MONTHLY PAYMENTS 36
What does this mean? Would I be entitled to claim?0 -

There you are - you don't get insurance premium tax unless there is an insurance premium.
I would fax a complaint to Clydesdale on 0141 242 4708 if I were you.
Thanks so much Magpiecottage!
Its Barclay Partner Finance now. I guess they must have bought the debt or something from Clydesdale and transferred my policy to them, as for the last couple of years all my correspondence came from Barclays.
I will give them a call, and perhaps start the process in putting together a letter.
Again, thank you so much0 -
Clydesdale actually sold you the policy, so they are responsible for the misselling unless they transferred the liability to Barclays.0

Thanks.
I will give Clydesdale a call and find out if they did indeed transfer liability so I know who to deal with
Thanks so much for your help!0 -
All Clydesdale Finance loans now fall under Barclays Partner Finance. You need to go to them. I have just had a £100 refund after they claimed I had agreed to PPI on a phone call (my agreement had no mention of it), but as they had no record of the call they would refund the money.Wage Day Advance, Quick Quid, Pounds to Pocket and Pounds Till Payday....i'm after you0

Hii Everyone.
I am wondering if anyone can help me? i have recently found that barclays have been adding arreas to a loan i took out even though i have been making the payments. They made a new agreement for me when i was struggling to pay at a reduced rate and i never missed a payment, when they did this for me they never informed me that i would get these charges if they reduced the rate. After contacting them they said i will just have to pay it. They said that agreement had finished even though they never informed me of this.
After looking through the paper work i also have a PPI of £1500 which was a one off payment added to the balance.
Does anyone know of the appropriate letters to send to them?

Hi all,
About 5 years ago i took finance out for a car i wanted. I paid off the remainder of the balance back last year and since the PPI scam has been made public i have tried investigating wether i was paying this over the past 5 years. I phoned up BPF and the male i spoke to didn.t sound very cinvincing when i asked him if i was paying PPI. He had a vague answer and i dont really think he knew wether i was or not. How can i find out for definate if i was paying PPI and what are the best steps to take?
Also i have read someone mention PPS... Is this another abbreviation i should be asking about?
Thanks0
