  • Haha - its only 11.00 and Im already over budget!!

My three have said they'll pitch in with a tenner each though and a couple of friends have offered to take all four of them out on the days I'm working after Christmas - quad biking on a farm and wellie walking on the beach so far . . .

Superdrug are doing free P&P. I have bought my son who is 16, hair putty, razors, shaving foam, shower gel etc. What about a fiver DVD? Mission Impossible, Bourne Identity etc.

I second this! My brother is 18 and i purchased sprays, shower gel e.t.c for a really good price. They have lots of offers on at the moment.

You have to order by Monday to get the goods in time for Christmas!
  • Neighbour has just donated two men's stuff gift packs -how lovely!

Im getting more 'background' now - he goes to a posh boarding school but mum is 'not well'. Dad has offered to cover all our costs but I don't think that's the point here!
My beautiful girls have 'befriended' his mates on FB and we have found out that he plays accoustic guitar but wants to try electric - sorted! My son will have him recording a demo before his week with us is over! He likes football and the Gym - sorted! His sport is Archery but we have HV bibi guns and lots of land!

He likes card tricks, ghost stories and cooking - I think between us we have those covered!

And he likes the girlies but doesn't get chance to socialise as he's away at school most of the time - Hmmm don't think that will be a problem as both my girls have invited friends round for pre-Christmas dinners on Wednesday and Thursday next week!

He has posted that he hopes it snows for Christmas . . . . - any help with that would be appreciated:rotfl::rotfl:

If he's at a posh boarding school, how about a large tin/box/jar of home baked stuff like brownies, flapjacks, chunks of fruit cake, rocky road, cookies etc to take back with him? Lots of boarders bring treat stuff back with them, partly for sharing, and it might make it a bit easier for him to go back after Christmas too...

  • That is a really good idea!

    Thanking you all!

Happy Christmas, OP - and hats off to you for putting in so much effort to make this lad's Christmas memorable for good reasons.
It makes me feel really happy inside to think you're doing this for him when other things in his life aren't that easy.

    Cheers!

Thank you, MsB for putting into words exactly what I think!
What a lovely thing to do for the lad OP, have a wonderful time together.
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • Back again!
Youngest and I have just de-girlified her bedroom for him!
I pm'd him on FB and asked if he likes kittens - we have 2!- and he's really excited about that!
He remembers me and my son from years ago and says there is still a photo of his dad and I when we worked together and hes still got the torch I gave him when he was about 7 or 8!
I'm really, really excited to be doing this - keep your fingers crossed for us all that it goes well and he feels part of the family.

Forgot to add - one of my sisters splashed out on a lovely pair of Next jammies and t'other got a matching dressing gown!
