Is working 1 hour a day actually classed as a job? sound more of a hobby/passtime to me.
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.
  • I believe she said she spends a full hour with the children, not that the entire job is 1hr a day.

OP you will learn to love the other kids at the other school too, you have to take risks sometimes.

It is a very full and busy hour, not a hobby lol. I don't get a second to stop which is why i love it, and i also have two other jobs as well as this one. Sorry if my title has disappointed anyone, it really was how i was feeling this morning, but have had some really good advice on here today and am going to get on with it and enjoy xmas now :)

  • To clarify, you have a temp job in a school as a lunchtime assistant but you have applied for and been invited to an interview in your childs school as a permament classroom assistant? I am a catering manager in a school and i know what you mean about knowing all the children etc. I felt the same when i applied for the job im doing, almost cancelled the interview, even called up but went for the interview, got the job. Its more money but best of all still there, my previous job is no longer. I would go for thw interview and if you get the job face your fears. If you leave on good terms its likely you may be offered a permenant job. good luck.
  • I agree with your husband that you should take the new job. I also know what you mean working in the school and yes it is an amazing experience. But you are only temporary, if you were promised the position, full time, then I would agree with you. It sounds like you love it but the same can be said about the new position once you are there. You are luckier than most, good luck with whatever you decide.

Crikey, if this is someone's definition of having a really bad problem, they should come and take a walk with me around the slums of Bangkok where I will be later this week.

People there would love to have problems like this.

Hi Yvonne13 yes i did get the permanent one, i am still missing things about the other one but this one is alot less stressful and am settling in. Actually reading the advice you originally gave i have taken it all on board. I haven't worked for over 10 yrs, been a sahm so getting a job i loved was a bit thing for me, also the fact that i was considered employable still after all that time out of it :) x
