  • But another way of looking at it, is that the children will move on and leave eventually.

  • Aww bless you. I work in a school too and the kids absolutely love the mid day assistants. You sound a lovely caring person and will do well wherever you work. Don't feel guilty. You must think of the needs of you and your family. Hope the interview goes well. x

  • You need to take a deep breath and calm down. Look at your thread title! It doesn't make any sense. All you have done is apply for a permanent job and get an interview. Many folks would be delighted to be in your position. Think about it. If there are great kids at the present school, don't you think you will find the same in your childrens' school? That would surely indicate that you don't think the school is as good as the one you are in just now. Or perhaps there is another reason behind the panic. Are you perhaps worrying about the fact that you will be in the same school as your children? Are you a bit timid and hate getting to know a new staff?
In any case, you haven't given up the position you are in yet so haven't been stupid and completely stuffed up. ( I thought with the title you had done something like committed theft or claimed benefits you shouldn't have)
Take your mind off it all today. Let things calm down in your brain( if thats possible the last weekend before Christmas!). Then sit down and think of all the positives you would have IF you passed the interview.
Remember, you have not stuffed up- you have just got an interview.

Apologies as this may confuse you more but I would also think about whether you want to work at the same school as your kids or if they would want you to. Having had a parent who worked as a supply teacher I hated it when they were in same school as me even though they never actually taught me!

Why you worrying over this, just go to the interview and see what happens. If you get offered the job then you have some thinking to do but why worry before then.

I applied for a job a day late and still got an interview, so all may not be lost!

Am I the only one that saw the title of the thread but then on opening feel disappointed?

Good luck with the interview though :)

If you get the paid permanent job would you have time to go back to the previous school sometimes as a volunteer? Maybe they could use extra hands for things like school trips so you would still see the kids.
