read the Morrcan thread on Lonely Planet (Thorn Tree ) Buy a Rough Guide or LP book. The Ourinika valley is a good place for a day trip. Bus leaves from South ofthe city !

We went to the anti atlas mountains - the views were fantastic! A bit scary on the coach at times though but really a great trip. We went to a village up there I think where they sold the stuff that you might typically find on an organised coach trip :rotfl: :rotfl:

The Atlas Mountains are great for a trip...hair raising drive...but a wonderful experience. We also went to Safi and that too was lovley and on the coast and is famous for it's potteries.

I would tend to dress conservativly, esp as you will be travelling alone....its not like Dubai!

Your hotel will be able to give you a guide for the souks...well worth it as they can stop some of the 'followers' !!

Its a wonderful place, but just stay vigilant and try not to carry anything to valuable with you, leave it in the hotel safe!

    Have fun!

For real quality gifts go to the state/goverment shops where you do not haggle, you are left in peace to choose what you want and the goods are from the area's best crafts people. As for a guide if you can get your accomodation to reccomend one especially a student negotiate a daily rate, hire as you want.If you decide to go it alone never but never go eyeball to eyeball it drives them mad and they usually go find an easier victim. You can eat in the Market just follow the locals and always choose hot whatscooking now. Have a great time.
