Marrakech

I am spending three days in Marrakech later this month - could anyone recommend an itinerary for me please?

Have loads more questions, so any info provided will be gratefully received! x

We only went for one day & 1 night but if you aren't careful you could spend 3 days lost in the market trying to get out :rotfl:

Night time in the square was excellent entertainment but got to be careful of weirdos! It really livened up at night.

The other half says the botanical gardens is in marrakech too - visiting kinda depends if you like plants or not :)

    Thanks catz,

I love photography, especially capturing different colours, so the gardens sound perfect.

I am a woman travelling alone. Am quite confident as have travelled to New York and Dubai alone, but am thinking this could be a bit of a culture shock. Am I best to get a guide? If so, am assuming that the chances of getting a female guide are slim?!

    Thanks again! x

What was the weather like when you were there? Have been told it should be around 20 degrees?

We went in April last year, I'm sure the temperature was more like late 20s - maybe 26-28 degrees. It was very hot! If you like the colours and things you'll love the square at night - all those spices!

I guess the really obvious thing is to wear trousers all the time or a long skirt/dress.

It is a very chaotic place and everyone wants a tip. I used my compass to great effect in the souks as they are big and very complicated. You dont need a guide but beware of small pickpockets and haggle for eveything. Lots of cheap places to eat and get the bus to the main square from the airport. last week was the Marakesh marathon. The gardens Cats is talking about is the Majorelle where we took some great photos. The square is lively but the Nouvelle Ville is worth eating out there .However you will be hassled alot and it either becomes irksome or you just have to laugh it off. Lj

Yeah and especially the so called 'official market guides' they will try and take you off to some stall or other you don't want to be at. There are no official market guides.

Looks like am best just to find my own way around then - am sure I can muster up enough French if I get lost!

Any ideas on a day trip out? Was thinking about going into the mountains?
