  • I didn't think I would carry mine around too much, but I'm finding it goes to work with me everyday and I've just recently been to Scotland and the iPad was excellent to have with me for watching films during the flight:)

I also caught people sitting around me watching too:D

I didn't think I would need an iPad as I have an iPhone 4s, but to be honest its loads better than the iPhone due to the bigger screen, making things so much easier.

I also use the kindle app on my iPad and I find its brilliant, very easy to use and works very well. I haven't found it an issue reading for long periods of time or an issue with weight.
A friend of mine has a Kindle and he wants an iPad now as he thinks its better than his kindle, due to the bigger screen and everything else it does.
  • Take mine in the car for the kids when we go on a long journey music ,films ,games .Great for them (and me :) ) .If you do get one think about getting the smart cover and skin to match ,use it all the time and its still like new .

Thanks everyone. I bought the iPad in the end.

It's got WiFi as well as the 3G, so I'll let him sort out what he wants to do about the 3G bit once he's got it. I'll really pleased that you all say you like them, I don't think I would have bought it otherwise.

I also got my arm twisted into buying the special lid/cover for it. (No idea what the point of it is but it cost me £60).

He'll be really happy & surprised (unless he's sneakily looking at my posts again - in which case, serves him right!)

:p lol - it was John Lewis though so they don't get commission ;)

If it's rubbish, we can just take it back.

It's great, it protects the screen when the iPad is not in use, and acts as a stand when it is. You could have got a cheaper one though, the non-leather ones are £35!

Thanks - I got that one as I thought black looked better. The other ones were coloured. Or maybe I didn't look hard enough! I'm quite excited about it now. I just hope the kids don't let the cat out of the bag before Sunday.

  • You have chosen wisely mrcow:D
  • can I ask if you can use the wifi only version , for arguments sakes, travelling in the car where there is no wifi signal for watching films etc? What I am asking is unlike the playbook which requires you being connected to a wifi signal to stream films/games etc will it work without the wifi?

if the games/films are already on the iPad, then they will still work fine without a wifi connection.

Streaming? No you'll need a connection for this:)
