Whatever happens policy from Currys

Hi,
I bought a LCD TV from Currys two years ago and was sold a "What ever happens" policy. At the time I signed up I thought it was a good idea and still do but recently when I bought a camera from them the sales agent sold me a 5 year policy which works out to be a cheaper option than the others. At the moment I have payed £8.99 for two years and need to pay more if I wanted for the years to come. When I was sold the policy I was not made aware of the 3/5 year policy and now I want to switch into this policy.
So I picked up the phone and spoke to the helpline and now they say the cant do anything since the policy has been setup as a monthly payment option and basically I had to live with the fact that I payed what ever I payed currys and pay more if I needed further cover.
In my opinion this is quite appalling service and they should be able to switch me into a 5 year policy from the day I purchased it. Could anyone give some good advise on this?
