  • A skateboard is a great idea. I bought my youngest one of these http://www.sportsdirect.com/no-fear-deluxe-skateboard-759012 which I think are an incredible bargain at £12. She is out on it now with her friends, even though it's freezing.

I've got a son that's 11 3/4 and this has been the hardest year yet to find something for Christmas for him. Mine likes science so anything along those lines. Other things that are within your budget that he is getting is dartboard, latest Rick Riordan book (author of Percy jackson novels) dvds. Mine is not into clothing one little bit. Another thread also mentioned superdry clothing and I had to google it, having never heard of them. I saw one of their shops for the 1st time the other w/end DS who was with me, walked straight past it. He wanted to go in Game though. :D DS outgrew lego when he was around 9, having never been into kits and started liking k'nex instead. You can put motors with them, so it lends itself to more building ideas IMO.

OP have you thought about a cinema gift voucher?
    My local Odeon do them.
I would never have thought about it before but my dd won a £50 giftcard from school last week :D
So for hard to please boys i think i will go down this route from now on (i tend to get claires vouchers for the girls).

My DS1 is also 12. He has asked for cash so he can go shopping for clothes in the sales. He's getting to the fashion contious stage but fortunately his favourite shop is Primark
  • I also own one of those. A GAME voucher, or a cinema voucher, or even River Island, is a good bet. Horrid age, too old for Santa, too young for "pick your own" lol.

I have a difficult to buy for 12 year old. Someone on the grabbit board recommended these wooden construction kits which I think he will love. there is a range on Amazon of different price and age range.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tower-Bridge-Woodcraft-Construction-Kit/dp/B000640TZQ/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_0_1

    good luck :)
  • Does he have an iPod or use iTunes to purchase music? If so, an iTunes voucher maybe worthwhile?
  • I think most 12 year olds are at an age where they know what they like and you could easily get it wrong. Mine hasnt played with lego or Knex for a while but I know other 12 year olds who still like it. My boy also has no interest in clothes!

I think you either need to talk to his parents or get a voucher. I agree that I-Tunes/Game/Amazon are good choices. With my 13 yo nephew I always get him something for £5 to open then a £10 voucher. This year I have bought High Street Gift Vouchers which cover various options.
